You're being obtuse. Why ask for more if you don't care about the ones that are there?

just because one thing doesnt sound interesting to me doesnt mean another thing will also be uninteresting...? o.O

Huh. Why should we toil on the offchance that it might be interesting to you, when it's not at the moment? In your scenario, there'll still be lots of reviews ignored... I'd say there's something for everyone each week at the moment...

my point was that people don't comment on every single review they read ._.

Well, it'd be good feedback if nothing else. How are we supposed to know how you lot feel about a review if you all read it and then don't comment?

I barely have enough time to read the reviews, much less blather on about what my deluded self thinks about someone elses writing. If I own the album or have heard it, I will comment. If not, well I really have nothing to contribute anyways. Do you really want people saying "great review" and nothying else in every single review? That would be rather redundant, and a waste of cyberspace, I think.

The poll question is pretty straightforward - What score would you give metalreviews?

Now for some others:

How many bands have you discovered soley because of an interesting review you saw here?

How important do you think sites like this are in the metal world?

What site that you regularly visit has the most accurate and most well written reviews?

Feel free to answer any of those or ignore them and vote. Just trying to throw an interesting thread idea out there.

I voted 70. Pretty good. There is room for improvement.

I have discovered a few bands but I've learned tons more from the forum here.

Metal sites are very improtant. They're my only connection to the metal stuff.

Vempire-reviews.com Simply godly, great underground stuff never escape their attention. Famous bands albums get reviewed instantly.

I'd say MR is my second favorite but I think a bigger staff covering different genres, reviewing all major albums that come out as soon as possible, would make this site much better.
Yeah, a bigger staff would really help out a lot. It's just really, really, really difficult to find even a dozen people who can not just write good reviews, but produce them on a weekly basis. I think it would be really cool if the homepage said "20" or even "15" new reviews with every update. As it stands, I think the record is at 16 reviews, which was the first week of November, 2006.
you could have som sort of audition...

We do...

As stated in a news post not too long ago, anyone who wants to write for MR should send sample reviews to Chris or Mike, or any of us for that matter as we can just forward them on to the powers that be. Usually it is good to include at least one positive review and one negative review. Some work out (Dylan), some don't (Andrew).
Allright! maybe I'll try out then=)

True. But then how can people whine about the reviews, then? As I was saying to Jeff, if you can't respond to what's there, you can't expect more...

You also can't reply anything remotely similar to something in the review. 'Tis bad.

I can't begin to answer this accurately at all because the number is so large. This site has been instrumental in introducing me to genres I would have never have given a listen to otherwise. When I first started posting here I listened mainly to Power Metal, I now listen to everything and I find myself moving further away from PM everyday.

Sites like this are priceless IMO. To have found one as good as this one, is next to impossible. Metal print publications are far and few between (good ones at least) and they're usually a month or so behind on the most current releases and news. So, having up to date info, reviews, and forum communication/interaction has been great in aiding me as a metal fan/listener.

I base most of my purchases from the reviews I find here. I also read Blabbermouth (more for news than reviews). Metal-Rules has pretty good reviews but I'm not particularly fond of their grading system. Accessing their older reviews is also a huge pain in the ass and they also seem to lean more toward the Power Metal side of life. From time to time I've floated around on Metal Observer and Metal Storm but I always land back here consistently.

Someone (I forget who) got pissed at him for saying something very similar to the review, and not saying it was taken from the review.

Yeah, I wasn't really getting at you with that as much as the '20 a week' guy.

I'll have to try and review more jazzy metalcore just for you, Jeff. :P

i don't really think that there needs to be more reviews here (15 a week is pretty impressive), but more could hardly be a bad thing XD

I'm just now getting back in the swing of things after the baby. There's one this week, though the album is kind of weak. Soon to come (hopefully):

Reverend Bizarre - III: So Long Suckers
Evoken - Caress of the Void (Release Delayed)
Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today (Releasing 11/20)
Gloomy Sunday - Beyond Good and Evil (Stoner Doom)
EA - Ea Tesse (Funeral Doom)
