I guess maybe you need a break from metal when your playing it every night.

Oh please no!

I got accosted by members of a Death Cab for Cutie street team (4-5 people) one day last year on the Penn State University campus. They told me to go to the upcoming show and when I told them I had never heard of DCfC they condescendingly insisted again that I see the show. Then I walked away and I could overhear them making fun of me. Very bizarre experience---and very rude people.

street teams are comprised of one hundred percent retards: Fact

Yeah. It's probably a good thing though because then instead of emulating bands they listen to they're bringing odd influences into the genre.

In the Overkill DVD "Wrecking Everything" there is an enterview with D.D. Verni and the guy asks him about what kind of music he likes to listen, and DD makes a little rant about how alot of Metal bands dont even listen to metal, and then he says "fuck that!, i listen to metal all day long! i never get tired of it"(not his exact words but something like that), another reason of why D.D. Verni owns everyone else.

Yeah. If there was a street team even for Darkthrone I'd dropkick the hell outta them for being nerds.

wtf kind of name is Death Cab for Cutie by the way? Even the sound of its name makes my blood boil. They sound dropkicktastic. Not that I've heard their music. (not that I will. ever.)

Yeah, a name like that insures I will listen to them, ever. One of the worst and most annoying names I have ever heard.

Uh, quite a lot of stuff. Pretty much everything Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley, or Chris Cornell ever sang on (excepting Audioslave, they were the rock band equivalent of eating a six-hundred-pound man's bedsores). Then there's all the adolescent-y pseudo-nu-metal bullshit that I like because I'm a simplistic consumer turd. Like Powerman 5000 and whatnot.

What else... well, some classic rock in addition. Heck, even Grateful Dead (Box of Rain is genius) and some of that hippy-dippy LSD nonsense.

Also I was digging through some old albums about a week ago and realized I still like some Goldfinger's self titled, and Less Than Jake's "Losing Streak".

What is considered mainstream anyway? I saw Fear Factory on here and I dont know if they qualify. I dont think they have had any album go platinum (if that is what is considered mainstream).

Doesn't matter how many records they sell imho, if they're on mtv or mtv2, they sold enough and it's mainstream for all I care. How many records they sold doesn't always mean a thing because a band can also sell a lot of records to a group that are not mainstream listeners.

Well if we are gonna go by that, then I have a few more to add.

Rammstein
Fear Factory
Metallica
Pantera

And I probably have a few more, but just cant think of them right now.

So you will kill someone for listening to Eminem, but not someone listening to a winner of American Idol? Intresting. And isnt the point of this thread to list you fav mainstream music, which most of isnt metal?
