This is interesting, a lengthy essay about offensiveness in metal.

Metal being offensive huh? well yes of course it can be but these violent, hyper-masculine, lyrics are tailored to a very specific audience and aren't force fed to anyone. The lust filled lyrics in pop music are just as offensive but there's a difference here. People are brought up on that music. It is played on an endless loop by the overwhelming majority of radio stations and reaches an enormous audience. What's worse that's realistic behaviour which becomes glamourised. Then you have the downright filthy lyrics of hip-hop. The less said about that the better.

For the record though Cannibal Corpse are downright boring.

He's right about 85% of the time. But when wrong, massively wrong.

Too lengthy. Maybe one day I will read it, but read an article a few years back on Carcass in an anthology, The Brutal Truth: Extreme Realism in Heavy Metal by Liam Dee. Twas pretty good.

Are you implying that either band is good?

If so you would be wrong.

You should be proud to be right 85% of the time, better than most around here.

85% is a massive exaggeration as best I can tell, maybe you're right about 29% of the time
