There's a battered-looking copy of "Reverance" in my local. Worth getting?

I think Emperor's Emperor EP is awesome.

Me too. It's allright, but the keyboards are way to dominating which gives the whole album an unpleasantly synthetic (and cheesy) feel. Besides from that I find it a little too 'easy'

Have to agree with this....

I'm getting very bored with a lot of the extreme side of it. There's only so many blastbeats you can take before they get tiring...

Extreme metal doesn't necessarily have anything to do with blastbeats. Blastbeats were brought into metal from punk anyway.

Yes. Tiring to the point of unoriginality and indifference.

I partially agree ,but you just have to dig for the select few outstanding acts that actually have something to offer, and inspirit your listening habits with some other genres as well. I think the categorical apostasy of the genre as a whole is silly.

Very true! There are still some outstanding metal acts around. The categorical apostasy of a whole genre is silly, but so is the categorical apostasy of all genres but one, of a select few. There is original and interesting music in every genre I heard so far (except Schlager, but there might be some too ;)), but generally the most original music falls in more than one genre...

And thanks for the star of ash zad, it's really good!

True. I might be being a bit hasty, but nothing 'heavy' I've heard recently has excited me particularly. Sure, it's good, but it does nothing new, to my ears at least...

You checked it out? Cool. 8)

I still like a lot of metal, but the fast stuff has gotten pretty boring.

I very much agree. Although there are a few genres I can't stand because I hate the very things that define them.

How about some post/prog Schlager Misha? Dj. Ötzi f.x.

I've been super-duper picky about the music I listen to, so much so that I've been practically sticking exclusively to my favourite 20 or so albums every time I want to listen to something for the last 2 weeks
