Ohh shieeeet! Anyone see what Jari posted on the official Wintersun facebook page? Pretty much slaughtered Nuclear Blast whom he currently is under contract with. Good luck getting Time II published or even recorded now. Idiot.

I´ve got probably 5 long albums worth of new insanely good material! And there´s no filler material at all! The music is much more refined, much more advanced in arrangement/composition/productionwise. It´s diverse and beautiful, heavy, chaotic and exploring different styles&themes and some new dimensions I feel no band has explored before… The stuff is simply on another level, in a different universe than the debut album and the TIME albums combined. I wrote the TIME albums around 2006 and before, that was a lifetime ago. Think of the stuff I´ve written ever since to this day! And I just keep on writing, I feel like I´m on fire. The music is just flowing out of me. I´m so excited about all this new music and I can´t wait to start recording and sharing it with you…

Jari or Adveser?

So he's gotten advances from Nuclear Blast and he's surprised they won't also let him do crowdfunding? uhhh

Pretty good piece on critic-proof bands, but I'm a bit mystified by the inclusion of Goatwhore alongside the likes of Amon Amarth, Overkill and Motorhead. Always thought of them as the Soilent Green lads in spiked armbands, playing distinctly average groovy black/thrash.

Seems like tons and tons of bands are critic proof by that definition. Like the six Candlemass albums I've listened to vary little in style/quality despite different singers.

I guess the central point is sort of correct - Candlemass fans will keep listening to them despite what critics say - but metalheads are a weird bunch to try and categorise like that as they all listen to different things for different reasons anyway.

I thought the category was more about bands where there's not much for a critic to say about a new album because they sound the same and don't get better or worse.

That's what the author seems to be getting at from what I read. Some of the points he made though are more contributors to plain consistency than formularity in my opinion. I think his description of Motorhead and Overkill are pretty narrow as there are definite peaks and valleys in the quality of both their output. He needs to listen to Inferno again because it is by no means a mirror to Ace of Spades.

Yeah I imagine it's like most broad categories people try to come up with where it does describe a lot of things to a certain extent--when Cannibal Corpse releases a new album there's not much to write besides "it's a new Cannibal Corpse album, listen to it if that's an exciting thought"--but there aren't any bands that it describes 100%.

Stumbled across this pic a couple days ago. From what I can gather, Lemmy sponsored a youth league soccer team at one time. Try not to smile.

I used to defend In Flames on the count of their terrific first few albums but now, this is just sad.

Christ. Weirdly, he's become a better singer although the music has got worse. Makes recent Soilwork sound like an At The Gates demo...

Computer enhanced vocals, I tell you. Now you can correct any fuck-ups and even Adveser could sound like Robert Plant.

Wow. Shall I give the last rights now or when they announce their upcoming tour with Nickleback?

His singing in the verses is kinda nice but the chorus is weak and they're playing music that was uncool 10+ years ago i don't understand

Ho dear, some people are soooo stupid.
That said, the big beard in the photograph is quite suspicious...
