Well, on first listens it sounds a bit more straightforward than earlier ones- I mean a bit less folky or classical influenced and more typical BM. Only listened once or twice though.

The new Lifelover is out too, if anyone cares. Haven't heard it tho.

Obviously I have had this for a while. If you liked the previous albums you will enjoy this one too. I think there might be a bit less of the whiny clean vocals on this one, which is a good thing IMO. "Brand" is pretty damn cool. (You can hear it on their MySpace.)

It's pretty WTF, isn't it? It's like they wanted to go Black Metal again, and couldn't be bothered writing full tracks. Aargh... Hiking Metal Punks and The Wind They Called The Dungeon Shaker (?) are the only decent tracks so far.

Dang, that's bad news, I really liked the direction Darkthrone had taken.

The vocals sound like my drunk grandfather, absolutely unlistenable.

Let's hope the new Satyricon will be good. Heard the single version of My Skin Is Cold, and it's not bad at all.

New Slayer forthcoming. Is good news.

I downloaded the entire song, quite surprisingly good. As I said earlier, Tom's voice is a little annoying at times but all in all tihs song kicks ass.

I'd give "The Cult is Alive" an 80, and "F.O.A.D" a 60..... Am i gonna hate this?

I'm totally WTFed out on the new Darkthrone too. I don't get it, I've heard it like 3 times so far which should be enough for dt. It has its moments but it sounds really uninspired. This is the first time this happened to me with Darkthrone. The album has a depressive feeling overall, but has the same we don't give a fuck, long live punk attitude.

I'm confused.

Christ Illusion wasn't bad, IMO this song (Psychopathy Red) is better than anything on Christ Illusion. Maybe I should start a thread about new Slayer??? :)

Two things have suddenly made me rather wary of the new Satyricon album.

One: hearing the first single. It might be a grower, but if you thought K.I.N.G was bad… could only bear to listen twice.
Two: Satyr’s on the cover of Kerrang! :lame:

He's been on the cover of metal hammer hasn't he? Much worse IMO. Anyway any kvltness/underground level of Satyricon is about minus 50.... there's really nothing kvlt about them and not even that much black metal anymore...

Though Now Diabolical was ok for what it was.

Um, no... unless Kerrang is what you bogans call Terrorizer. Metal Hammer is sometimes worth a read, Kerrang is full-on facepalm city.
