Anybody ever seen 3 Inches of Blood or Skeletonwitch live? Curious if I should worry about going or just say fuck it.

I've seen 3 inches live a few times and had a lot of fun, thought they put on a good show.

Seen both of them Skeletonwitch are decent though the vocals are a little weak, and 3ob as much as their music sucks phallus, were also decent live.

Quick fire review of the Earth gig:

Sabbath Assembly were awesome, and Jex Thoth is a stunning frontwoman. The other members of the band were great players. Earth were good too, but the venue was getting overcrowded (It's small, about 150 people max. There was no moving room.) and had no air conditioning on so ended up bailing out half way through and listening to them in the cafe bit upstairs. It was rather amusing to see people involuntarily swaying along to the music (I had a good vantage point on top of my stool.) I have never seen so many hipsters and neckbeards in the one place at the one time in all my life. Some dude tried to heckle Earth but was met with a "Fuck you" and it kinda soured the mood which was a bit shit.

So basically: go so long as the venue has some sort of ventilation system going on.

You are the guy in the crowd who goes to every metal gig ever and lights up a joint in the crowd. And then everyone turns to their mates and goes "WTF man do you smell weed?".

I hate that guy

Skull Fucking Metal Fest III has been announced with promises of Morbosidad, Adversarial, Auroch, Nuclearhammer and Morbid Ceremony. Thinking of making this.

And Grave are coming in September! :omfg: Support acts are Gigan, Pathology and Blood Red Throne. Must get tickets the moment they go on sale. Must see Grave!

Seen Clinton Fearon (ex-Gladiators singer) yesterday at "La Maroquinnerie", a 500 "seatings" venue in Paris.

It was a delightful 2 hours and a half of oldschool reggae music. They even threw a little dub in the mix which was a good surprise. Those interested in good reggae music with musicians that are just here to please them and please themselves shouldn't miss Clinton Fearon if he plays near them. Also, his last album to date (Mi Deh Yah, 2010) is as good as it gets with reggae music these days.

I tell you, it was a great concert, I wasn't expecting it to be that good.

Just got back from seeing Protest the Hero. WOW. This is the second time I've seen them, but last time they played a very short set. Tonight they were headlining and played a great mix of all 3 albums. It was an amazing show. Rody is quite the entertainer. Well worth the 16 bucks.

A local show:

Veterans (My friend's hardcore punk band with uber-fun riffs: http://veterans.bandcamp.com/)
Dying in Motion (Swiss screamo with crazy clean guitar: http://www.myspace.com/dyinginmotion)
Amorak (Funeral doom with Khanate vocals: http://www.myspace.com/amarokdoom)
Beneath Oblivion (Local doom: http://www.myspace.com/beneathoblivion)

All were pretty good, Amorak almost too minimalistic (I like my doom to have riffs, just sick riffs, not slow pauses between guitar strokes), and the Dying in Motion guitarist had his guitar making the craziest sounds like he had a turntable in front of him at one point.

Went to a local show last week, which included Wastelander and Acid Witch, so that was cool. Drummer from Wastelander (who is in approximately one million bands) was also in the band High Spirits, a mix between Motorhead and early Maiden, who killed live, but I haven't heard any of their recordings.

Also went to a house party/basement show the other day, where I caught the band Cancers, who played heavy-ass hardcore (Trapt, you might dig them, I can link you to an EP), and were quite intense, particularly in a basement. Also, hot bassist.

This Friday is Slough Feg(!!!), in the coming months is Guitar Wolf and Del the Funky Homosapien, both for a cool 15 dollars. Might hit up another Acid Witch/Wastelander show as well.

If the spring/summer continues in this fashion, it will be a good one for shows.
