Haha. You so funny. The "shit" part of this isn't due to anything I've said.

actually, this wasn't pointed towards you. This thread is another example who some people act like they have a monkey up their ass just because someone disagrees. And even I am getting pretty fucking tired of this. And i agree with Dago, Al made a pretty good point.

I don't see many people in this particular thread getting worked up over disagreements, at least not in the Green Day part. I stated my views. Others stated theirs. I didn't have any ill will about being disagreed with, and I didn't feel there was any pointed back toward me. It was just a discussion with differing opinions. Someone with a monkey up their ass is one who takes it to a personal level and let's it affect them emotionally. This is definitely not a case like that. Relax.

Okay I am saying this because I am sick of hearing shitty bands like HIM being called metal and all this other crap I'm seeing emo bands being called metal and the gods arn't even noticed. Goddam media with there popular crap, were to rough for the radio cause of our mind ripping guitar. This has been a long time coming but we need to do something about these emos. Like losing the chick bands so the nuts can breath, teaching them how to grow their hair not slant it like what the hell man. It's driving me nuts I say I like metal and a kid goes so you must like "My chemical romance, HIM, and all those other bands". No way! I like sepultura, slayer, kreator, sodom, iced earth, destruction, tankard, death, vader, bathory, venom and so many more. It's just not fair like one thing I will never forget was seeing the guitarist from green day on a GUITAR LEGENDS magazine. He's no legend, Dave Mustane is a Legend. Emo's faggie skater punks there all just a pussy version of us. Can you tell I've had a bad day? :P I needed this rant thanks guys, so let it all out let me hear what has been pissing you off with the metal scene we need to let the rage go and get it all out there.

And always remember: In Metal We Trust :dio:

this is way way too pretentious, ha ha  It's okay to start on a forum stating which band you like. But your way of making a list and wanting to sound cool at the same time is just so n00bish and lame. It's that kind of stuff i would do to annoy other metal ppl if i had a fake profile  which i have already done on several occations at a weirdo community.

While i do understand your frustration it's important for you to remember; there's always metal ppl who can outdo you in being "metal", and there's will always be many different opinions within the metal genre. Meaning, even you would drive some ppl nuts with your lack of "metalknowledge" and pretentious behaviour. If you want proof read the entire thread again

And yes, Emos and Goths are annoying as hell, but so is many ppl listening to metal.

btw, welcome to the forum. Hope u didn't scared away :)

Lunar Eclipse mentioned that in todays media the gods aren't noticed or something like that...I like the fact that a lot of metal we know isn't so popular with the media. Thats a small reason why I like metal, because a lot of it is underground.

I sometimes enjoy the underground nature of what I listen to, but the fact that I'm in my 30s and live in a city with a small metal community consisting mostly of young nu-metal kids and so forth, it gets hard sometimes because I haven't even had a real good music-oriented conversation with another person in several years. It gets kind of annoying for me.

The best idea I have of whats popular and whats underground is how easy it is to find on soulseek, considering that kind of thing while I'm listening to music makes it all too confusing.

People should stop whining at anything that isn't metal just for the sake of "it's not metal it's not cool" or "it's too popular it's not cool".

My Chemical romance's newest album is the perfect exemple of a really great album most of you on these boards will skip due to the fact the band is too popular.

Who's whining?

well the original poster is complaining about emo so if that's not whining .... it's sooo cool bashing on the emo scene...
thats just elitist bullshit in my opinion. You're entitled to dislike a genre of music but to discredit a whole group of people just because they listen to something you dislike is simply being ignorant. If you don't like something move on and concentrate on the things you do like. There is too much bashing just for the sake of bashing(exemple: bashing whatever seems cool to bash) on these boards and it gets annoying.

just my 2 cents.

A quick point: Green Day's whole, "hey, let's make an anti-Bush record just when everyone's noticing it due to Punkvoter" shtick is the only way you could say they've sold out, as far as I can see. You can't sell out if you've never been underground. And of course they're not PUNK, but they have a connection to the drip of slime that punk has become, so they are more punk than all you Crass fans out there want to admit.

Otherwise, Al said it best. And I still like your sarcasm, Rad.

Billie Joe Armstrong officially declared himself a moron when he said in a guitar world interview (and what the hell is he doing in a guitar magazine anyway?): "(referring to American Idiot) It's all about not being part of the mainstream music, and doing our own thing". Yeah. Sure.

btw, the quote might not be exact. I'm quoting from memory.

Okay not I goatta come on here and say a few things.

1. Wow never knew this thread would cause so many great points(some not so great) to be spawned like wow I was just having a really bad day.

2. As for me being ignorant and intolorent thats not entirely true the reason I bash the "emos" also the reason I hate them is because they advocate depression and suicide as a fad. Now I knew people who have actually commited suicide for various reason, I find the emo popculture offensive to a huge degree. That's why I hate them, they whine and cry about all this shit because they think its cool. People actually do think life is not worth living and then at some point they act on it and its all over.

3. Finally I am going to apologize to any I have offended and to those who saw some of my mussical knowlege as ignorant. I do hear things a certain way and am working on making myself non-ignorant since I hate ignorance. Thats basically it keep this thread going if you want (I hope you do there have been alot of good points) or end it here, either way its been fun.

Does he not play guitar? That would explain why he was in Guitar magazine. 1 + 1 = 2. Shocking.

As for the comment he supposedly said; I don't believe you. That comment would be so stupid only Avenged Sevenfold could say it.

I understand your point of view but you have to look at the other side of the medal.

1. not all emos think life is not worth living, lots of them only like the music.

2. Many of them like listening to touching, depressive, songs that layout problems people are actually living no matter how small the problem may seem(it may seem whinny to some people too). It actually helps them out of depression, because they know they are not "ALONE". Hey it even works out for me when times are hard and I'm very far from suicidal. Knowing somebody out there has felt or is living a similar situation to yours is always comforting, even though I don't know exactly why. just like any other genre they have awful bands and some great ones(obviously it's all a matter of taste).

If you look at it, all musical genres have specific group of people listening but you can't pigeon hole a whole group as being the same, thats stereotyping. it's like saying all metal heads are haters, violent, satanic and burn churches. Yes some can be describe by some of those words but that's just a minority.
