Sounds like a sick week man.

Oh yeah, dude. I haven't been to a show in almost two years due to my lack of interest. I am back on track.

How old are you? That happened to me when I was like 18-19. After my stay in a mental institution and being heavily drugged and not hearing music for 2 whole months I completely found my love for music again.

I'm 26. I fell out of love with metal for about a year and a half exploring deeply classical music. It's been a year and a couple of months that I am deeply in love with heavy music again. I'm glad it happened because I can have a completely different appreciation (a much deeper one for that matter) for metal music and how it is deeply related to classical music. The more time goes by the more I expand my horizons but extreme music and rock music in general is at the top of my list. Times of abstinence makes one's love grow much, much, deeper.

I guess I'm going to the mayhem fest show. $30 to see 'deth and Red Fang? I'll survive.

I was going to the Mayhem fest when it came over here, but I didn't feel like sitting through a bunch of terrible bands to see Megadeth and Testament was worth it.

In other news, Eyehategod is coming down here on the 12th next month, most likely will try to see them if I can find a ride to and from the show.
Not caring enough about getting my license is doing me more harm than good right now.

I really dig 'deth live and for chilling out in the sun, I won't mind catching Machine Head or In Flames or even Trivium. I'll just have to wear an extra kvlt shirt and try talking to ladies rather than listening to shitty tunes.

WITTR, Thou and Cloud Rat in September. Fucking stoked to see WITTR. I never imagined them touring out to Cincinnati. Whoever reviews Cincy shows should go. I'll be rocking my Panopticon shirt like an eco-communist champ.

Saw Metallica on the 14th. They are still good live.. For openers there was local man Matt Mays, then Protest The Hero (who were so absolutely terrible I turned around and watched the crowd instead), Coheed and Cambria (who were pretty boring but had one good song) and Seether (who made me wanna vomit and then they covered Nirvana and I did).

Hmm. I've seen Protest twice and they were awesome both times.

The awful comment was more about the content rather than their performance itself. Maybe they were good but since I can't stand them it was very hard to stand there and listen to it.

Oddest fucking lineup for a Metallica concert I've heard in recent years. The local act getting a chance surprises me plus the trend of Metallica bringing out the trendiest of metal bands like The Sword, Lamb of God or Trivium or Down and Gojira to a lesser degree makes me question how Seether got in there. PtH I don't think is trendy but I guess others might. Bravo them. I'd buy a ticket to see them open in front of Metallica. Who are actually still pretty decent live minus the Hetfield off keys and Lars drumming.

I have some potentially rockin' shows coming up in the next few months. Ghostface Killah and Raekwon are playing a show together, which isn't "rockin'" exactly, but should still be cool. Also, Trap Them have a show soon, which should be mosh city. Hopefully there isn't too much hardcore dancing to get in the way of a circle pit, but given the band, that could go either way. Also, come October is Boris, which I'm stoked for. I will need to procure some drugs for that one.

Iron Maiden next week, woo! Should probably give Airbourne a listen, see what sort of support they'll be. Buying a Maiden t-shirt might be a good idea too, so I don't get sneered at if I turn up in a Painkiller shirt or whatever.

Mayhem was actually pretty awesome.

Mobile Death Camp, Beefcake from Gwar playing thrash. Fucking great.

Straight Line Stitch, iwabo minus all the goofiness? Kinda blows and made me realize that playing deathcore takes so little talent. The guitarists were so fucking weak. Standing there and chugging, really boringly.

Red Fang, fucking awesome. Groovy as all hell and really fun guys. Met them afterwards and they were super down to earth.

Took a break to shake Dave Ellefson's hand and get a photo together at some booth.

Came back to the stage to catch the second half of Suicide Silence's show. Holy shit I was impressed. Yeah, they play lame deathcore. But they do it well and the lead singer is pretty badass. I never mosh but somehow he had me running into a wall of death. They ended with No Pity for A Coward and he said you fuckers better come crowd surf and the security people freaked out. Tons of crowd surfing and so I joined in. Never done it before. Landed on my neck. Still sore after two days but it was so fun. The guy who came down before me had busted his nose on the rail and had a medic patch him up.

Then In Flames. Everything steve has ever said about them is correct. Fucking pussy radio metal.

Then Trivium. Decent. Looked super dorky, surprisingly not including Heafy in this. But played quality music.

Machinehead opened the main stage and it wasn't bad. They didn't play Davidian. That was dumb but Aesthetics of Hate was awesome.

Then Megadeth, and it was kinda weak. Every 'deth track ever played on the radio and that was it. Opening up with Trust means something is off. Peace Sells, Symphony, Holy Wars, Hangar, Headcrusher, A Tout Le Monde and the new track which kinda blows.

And then I went home.

I've seen Suicide silence before they got big at sweaty house shows here, boring music but an excellent live band that always gets the pit spilling out of the safe area.

I went to Mayhem when it was here in Phoenix and enjoyed it a lot. I thought Megadeth was great. They were the highlight of the day for me. I enjoyed In Flames a lot too. They played a really good mix of songs.

Megadeth were good. Like they didn't sound bad by any means, just the set list was a little disappointing. I like those songs but maybe I was just spoiled by the hour and a half set from when I saw them last with In My Darkest Hour, Take No Prisoners and Tornado of Souls.

Suicide Silence = sick live band.

Question time!!! Sunday night I can see Big Business/Torche/Helms Alee or or or Intronaut/Animals As Leaders/Dead Letter Circus/Last Chance To Reason/Evan Brewer. I've only heard Intronaut and Animals but I like Intronaut a lot. So should I go with Intronaut basically or Big Business/Torche?

Also, what about Diamond Head live? Any good? They're coming at the end of August.
