Eh, maybe by a couple minutes in the middle part. These guys are so fucking accomplished at what they do at this point though, I'll give them a pass. The last 5 minutes is so very well strategically placed to have me salivating at the prospect of another album.

I'm not exactly their biggest fan but I'd kill to be there that night. Hats off!

Yeah something along those lines. Maybe slightly classier than a lumberjack + campbells since their music is fairly elegant.

Akimbo - Elephantine
United Nations - United Nations

In the mood for angry music with tight drumming.

As you may know, Gong (and their "satellites") were one of the few progressive rock formation to demonstrate humour.

And I like it too.
Better than your average gutspilling dm cover, isn't it?

I admit I don't know Gong, I shall check this out. And yeah, since Steve's err... departure, this thread is a lot more watchable.

That artwork is beautiful. I had always seen some lame version prior to that. This one: http://music.is-amazing.com/sites/music ... /julie.jpg

Beneath Oblivion's new album. Crushing Cincy doom getting decent reviews across the interwebs. Really simplistic, plodding doom with screeching vocals.

John Zorn pays homage to the work of the great William Blake.
It's called At the Gates of Paradise and features Kenny Wollesen (vibes), John Medeski (piano, organ), Trevor Dunn (bass) & Joey Baron (drums).

Really digging this. It's still Leviathan but those parts I like of Nachtmystium which they stopped doing, now Wrest is doing, e.g., the tremolo in the middle of Contrary Pulse. I've never fallen hard for a Leviathan album. This might do it. Kinda sucks it had to come out of the impetus of the guy being accused of rape.
