"I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me but only if he got rid of the fucking bucket. So I came back a bit later and he's wearing this green fucking Martian's-hat thing! I said, 'Look, just be yourself'. He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother'. So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum then!'. I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing fucking mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up'? Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a motherfucker." -Ozzy Osbourne

We will be the first real death metal band to ever play Ozzfest, and the chance to lay waste to thousands and thousands of mall metal posers is just too once-in-a-lifetime to pass up.
--Karl Sanders, Frontman for Nile

Which Behemoth and them did.

Robert Fripp:
Quote:
I was trained as a guitarist. So I took lessons and I suppose I eventually could have become a classical guitarist. But it seemed that I was spending years and years working incredibly hard to have the opportunity to play other people's music. In terms of even serious music, the guitar repertoire is pretty second rate. And it's anachronistic. Hearing Hendrix hit one chord said infinitely more to me than the entire classical guitar repertoire. And I realized rock was very malleable - that within it you can play classical music or jazz or blues or whatever you cared to, and it was still rock. If you went outside the form in jazz or classical you were selling out. But if you did it in rock music you were gifted!

Somebody needs to track down quotes from those dumbfucks in Avenged Sevenfold. I was looking for the one about St Anger and couldn't find it.

That concert probably would have been cooler if they had played Moonshield, though, wouldn't it?

No... Moonshield isn't a very exciting song live. I've seen them perform it.

I'm not one of the " omg TJR is the only good album " people.

Hey, me neither. I really enjoy In Flames, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't mildly embittered at their current direction of music. It's not so much that it's bad, it's just whenever I listen to new In Flames, I only do so for about a song and a half, and then I find myself listening to Man Made God. I don't know what happens. I would like to see them live, but I feel like the emphasis would be too much on their recent albums, which I do not enjoy nearly as much as their old ones. (And yeah, I'm kind of retarded with the quotes) Right! On topic:

Greg Graffin:

"Faith in your partner, your fellow men, your friends, is very important, because without it there's no mutual component to your relationship, and relationships are important. So faith plays an important role, but faith in people you don't know, faith in religious or political leaders or even people on stages, people who are popular in the public eye, you shouldn't have faith in those people. You should listen to what they have to say and use it."

I don't mind the direction they're taking, personally. I enjoy all their albums equally outside of Soundtrack. I mean yeah the old albums are fucking classic and all but after being a fan for 8 years now I'm always looking forward to new material because I've already listened to their albums about a bazillion times.

Also they always play collectively from all of their albums. Each time I've seen them live ( Seen them 5 times now ) they've played a fairly equal amount from old and new stuff. They're really good about not just concentrating on new material.

Sorry for the off topic rant. In Flames always gets me talking. Great guys, really. Very friendly, and extremely appreciative of their fans.
