Inspired by a thread on another forum. Lost Metal Relics Time to post albums that didn't quite get the attention they deserved. Albums that are pure gold, yet so underground that nobody had the chance to fully appreciate it. Make sure to include: 1. Album cover 2. Year Released 3. Background Information on band/album 4. Links (Myspace, Metal-Archives, last.fm, official site, etc.) Ok, let's get started with Dark Quarterer for my part: Dark Quarterer - s/t Fucking awesome Epic/Heavy metal with hints of doom and NWOBHM. Been around since 1968 even though MA says 74. Makes for one of he oldest Italian bands that are still around ![]() http://www.myspace.com/darkquarterer |

Well, like I always say in threads such as this, Legend (US) - From the Fjords (1979) ![]() http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=17660 They only released this one album, whch is epic progressive heavy metal with a real jam band sensibility, and awesome guitar solos. Also features maybe my favourite rock/metal instrumental of all time in "The Confrontation". Hear some tracks here- http://www.myspace.com/legendfromamerica Or the entire album in dodgy .rar streaming format here- http://vibrationsofdoom.com/test/Legend3.html Keep planing on doing an archive review, but never get round to it. |

I must hear this, I loves me some esoteric US metal. |

![]() Abomination Old-school death/thrash. To me it sounds like Obituary got in a head on collision with Morbid Angel when they were writing/recording Altars of Madness. The survivors of this crash decided to play thrash metal a la Darkness Descends Dark Angel or Morbid Saint. Add in some touches of old-school hardcore, crossover, punk, whatever the hell you want to call it, and that is Abomination. In other words, they friggin' rocks. http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=2853 Tunnel of Damnation song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C6f1WVH ... re=related Redeem Deny song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbz5mpT8 ... re=related |

Amaran - Prestige in Bondage ![]() They split up after this great release that foreshadowed a promising future that obviously never panned out. Musical genre: Heavy metal with elements of thrash and melodeath, with clean female vocals reminiscent of Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia. Year: 2004 |

Sins of Thy Beloved - Lake of Sorrow ![]() First of two albums ever produced by this great Norwegian band.Lake of sorrow is a great atmospheric depressive album and has awesome violin work from Pete Johansen, who later on worked on many Tristania albums. I'm pretty sure this got some attention in it's time, but I rarely meet anyone who's heard of them or this specific album. Musical genre: Doom/Gothic Metal (more doom than gothic in my opinion). Year: 1998 |

Malign - Divine Facing and Fireborn ![]() Sweden. Re-release of two previous ep's in 2005. Went unnoticed by most including myself. It was brought to my attention by the one and only Deathspell Omega interview, and if that guy mentions a name you better check it out. The line-up consist of members from bands such as Watain and Ofermod. Oddly enough I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =421580417 |

If not for Traced In Air, Focus (by Cynic) would've probably been a prime example. |
