I really like how Slough Feg and Primordial incorporate the Celtic melodies into their riffs without going all out with accordions or whatnot. Can anyone recommend me more bands that manage to pull stuff like that off? Especially flamenco/spanish guitar influences because that's what I was thinking would be cool to hear a metal band have as part of their music. |

The only group I know that mixes flamenco & metal is User Ne, a pagan/experimental group with mixed flamenco & celtic infuences. http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=6513 Some videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozODUAlNY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWabBuIkGvU In Hard rock 80's, Medina Azahara, more vocal-flamenco influenced that guitar... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcOT2X-bqNs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rirn5L1bp9Q And one gem... progressive rock-flamenco fusion back in the 70's Triana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx3HCAWoAso http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puUnsVjgVjw |

Well, instead of just influences, but if you're interested in flamenco fused with metal, then you should check out Flametal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYh7NzTY ... re=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q73TGFZf ... re=related |

Well there's one track on the last Mekong Delta album (Defenders of the Faith) that had about 8 bars of awesome Flamenco soloing... but I'm not sure that's enough to really count. ![]() Plenty of bands have folk influences but aren't fruity folk metal. A lot of BM ones especially from Eastern Europe... I guess Drudkh being the most obvious. |

There's flamenco in Dream Theater's "Learning To Live." ![]() Ensiferum definately have some folk influences, most notably in their self-titled album, which is really fucking fun... Might be too "cheesy," though but that's kinda the point. |

Great band! ![]() Happy to Meet, Sorry to Part (1973), The Tain (1974) & Book of Invasions: A Celtic Symphony (1977) are great albums and, obviously, recommanded to anyone's into celtic rock. Too bad later stuff pretty much sucks. |

Suidakra have some folk influences, most notably on their last two albums. I'd recommend you check The Arcanum and Emprise to Avalon first since I find them better. Try Ancient Rites as well. I've heard Rubicon and Dim Carcosa, both good albums. Their early stuff are more black metal-ish or so the reviews say. Einherjer maybe, though they do have their cheesy moments sometimes and I like their last album Blot the most. I'd start there. Falconer Tyr XIV Dark Centuries' Skithingi is a good german pagan metal album. They remind me of Heidevolk but heavier and a bit more varied. I think all those band differ from the Korpiklaani/Finntroll type folk metal you'd call fruity. |

Celtic Legacy - very celticish traditional metal, like a more power metal Thin Lizzy (yes that is just as awesome as it sounds): http://www.myspace.com/celticlegacy |

That does sound awesome. I'm working on checking these bands out but it could be a while because my list of stuff to check out is long and I do it slowly. |
