I can vouch for Pornography being a pretty good release at the very least. Only just started dipping into their catalogue myself. |

Disintegration is one of the greatest albums ever created. Although I'm not sure if its a great starting point. |

For me, the 4 "must have" are, in order: Disintegration (1989) The Head on the Door (1985) Wish (1992) Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987) I only own a greatest hits of their early records, and only listened occassional songs of the newer ones, but not at the same level. |

1- Three Imaginary Boys (1979), for the raw, almost punkish, new wavey side. 2- Pornography (1982), for the unsane darkwave newly mastered sound. 3- The Head on the Door (1985), for the pop efficiency, 4- Disintegration (1989), for the dreamy qualities. That's about all you need to know about The Cure.

Disintergration is so far and away their best work. Other than that, the only album of theirs I bother with is Bloodflowers and "burn" from the crow soundtrack. |
