Lately I have been listening to a lot of 70's stuff... Priest, Sabbath, Purple, Zeppelin, Floyd, Rainbow, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers, etc... I want some spacey, good gettin' high to tunes. But also something with a bit of a punch to it. It doesn't have to be from the 70's, it could be from whenever. I just want that 70's rock/metal vibe. A couple of songs I've really been digging lately, Dogs by Floyd. Dying to Meet You and Run of the Mill by Priest. No ACDC, KISS, Aerosmith, or Scorpions please. |

Uriah Heep - Demons & Wizards (1972) They have a ton of other awesome stuff too, but that one is my favorite. |

http://www.progarchives.com This website changed my life. It'll take a few hours to get through it, but there's a billion bands, they're all separated into a bunch of different sub-genres, so its easier to find the stuff you want. There's streaming mp3 samples for almost every band as well (full songs). Fucking incredible. |

That is a very overwhelming site. Oh and Silent Man, I am listening to this Uriah Heep now. It is cool, but I wish there was some more shut the fuck up and jam moments though. |

I'm only 2 songs in, but I found a cool band. Armageddon. Released one album in 1975 and then broke up. The album is called, get ready for it, Armageddon. They combine that cool 70's heavy rockin vibe with a nice spacey feel. Silver Tightrope goes perfectly with a nicely rolled joint. I'm really digging this, and I fully recommend them. The drummer went on to Captain Beyond, and the singer was in the Yardbirds (he is dead now). http://www.bnrmetal.com/v2/bandpage.php?ID=Arm2 |

Did you see the Legend review a few months back? Not really a chilled out kind of thing, but pretty psychedelic, and all kinds of awesome. And very 1970s sounding. http://www.myspace.com/legendfromamerica |
