Post subject: | Metal music for a wedding |
Hey all While trying to plan my wedding with my woman, we both would like to include metal in some form throughout the ceremony/reception. We will be wearing "gothic" type clothes (nothing too shocking), but we are thinking of having either metal music for my partner to walk down the isle to, and/or metal music to leave to after we have been married. I am asking for suggestions, knowing these things: 1- Nothing outrageously heavy or fast, bear in mind that we don't want to upset family and guests 2- Most likely gothic music, but doesn't have to be, but it cannot be sad sounding. Something uplifting with a "love" feeling, but still metal Any suggestions? |

hm, what about 'Forever' by Kamelot? it's about being together even after death ![]() even Center of The Universe, there's a bit near the end with a chick singing and everything, about hope being a ship for the soul, the quest of you life lying over the ocean, to follow the star in your mind and to sail along, sail along. |

I tried this, and it just doesn't work. If you have friends that are metal fans, play a few songs toward the end of the reception. If you play one at the peak, you will turn a lot of people off. The party is for your friends and family, remember that. A lot of people do NOT like anything remotely metal. You can always get away with some AC/DC, yes, Gn'R, rush... classic rock/metal. I really can't stress this enough. Choose your music carefully, listen to it, and if people can't dance the whole way through the song, scrap it. I tried everything from Devin Townsend to Nightwish... and I can't stand Nightwish. Soft metal, fast metal, metal that isn't really metal, it doesn't work. People want to hear stuff they know. We didn't have a single rap, R/B, or country song, and that was difficult for a lot of people to deal with at the reception. I threw in an Eagle Fly Free at the end, because my friends were the only ones left and I knew they'd get a kick out of it. |

Plus one to what NESS said, non-Metal people will not be happy listening to anything heavier than Beyonce. Unless you want to freak people, in which case put some Sunn O))) on really loud and do the whole thing by candlelight. |

metal at a wedding that's some funny shit, metal would be insane at a wedding. I would feel awkward as fuck listening to metal at a wedding. Unless it's AC/DC or some shit like that. |

"For Her" by Dark Moor. Practically perfect for what you're describing. |

I understand what your saying, NESS, but the whole night's music isn't going to be just metal. We will be having a vast mix of 70's, 80's, dance, pop, hard rock and metal in between. Nothing too heavy, maybe mostly gothic stuff, metal that can be tolerated. Looking over the guest list, there aren't too many old people. All of my grandparents have passed away and most of my family do like hard rock/metal anyway. But its good to have a nice mix of stuff. Its our music, what we love and of course stuff that everyone can enjoy. There will be metal, however, and thats the way we want it. As for the suggestions, they are ok, but still looking for that song which appeals to both of us. Keep them coming please |

The Gathering might have some suitable songs - kinda poppy, but also quite rock, and having that required emotional pull. |

At my wedding party me and a buddy of mine put on Judas Priest's Rising In The East DVD and blasted Painkiller and may have started singing it. Most of the party cleared out, but by that point we were drunk and I was glad to see those people go anyhow. Anyways some songs that may be suitable for a wedding IMO: Lana Lane - Let Heaven In (she has quite a few songs that may work) Dreamtide - All of My Dreams Some stuff by Gotthard Xandria - Eversleeping Within Temptation - All I Need |
