Post subject: | Do some bands not advertise? |
Well, in Nov. 2008, Satryricon toured Bangalore and I came to know of it only a couple of months later. I came to know of Amon Amarth touring here just a couple of days earlier and couldn't take leave at such a short notice. Do some bands not make their tour plans public? I know they will mention their tour dates on their websites. But there are 1000s of bands, so it is impossible to check all their websites everyday. I missed attending their shows and am feeling real bad for it. Is there anyway to know if a band is coming to your area? Any specific website? Do some bands not advertise at all or is it upto the organizers to advertise about the band? I already registered with a couple of websites hoping that I will get news about any band touring India. Is there any other way to get to know how a specific band, however low profile is coming to your city? |

Metal mags? Metal Hammer always has a decent list of upcoming concerts. |

The best way to find out which bands are playing IMO is to know which venues in your city do metal shows and just get the concert lineups for each of them. If I just relied on bands advertising their own shows, I'd miss tons of gig. (I miss tons of gigs anyway, but because of busyness rather than not knowing) |

Thanks rio, was about to suggest this. ![]() Just be lucky that you even GET concerts where you're at though. The only semi-decent band I can remember being in Wichita in the past year is Assjack, and that was over a month ago. ![]() |

Bands don't usually advertise much, no. I'd find a local website/database that updates frequently. Usually I just look about once a week on the website of a local magazine where pretty much all local metal shows (major or underground) are posted. Also, if you go to shows regularly you might notice guys giving out flyers and such for other shows coming up. |
