Recently, I've been self-identifying as a recovering cynical bastard, and part of this recovery has been through music which I'm fairly certain will put me into a good mood. So, I was wondering what bands/songs/genres, if any, tend to brighten up your day a bit? Is there any consistency to speak of?

As for myself, it's been:

(The) Misfits (in general)

Albums:
Parliament - Mothership Connection
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
Bad Religion - No Control

Songs:
Cathedral - Midnight Mountain
Wishbone Ash - Sometime World

That's everything off the top of my head.

Power Quest's Magic Never Dies album really helped me the first (and only) time I was ever depressed. That's some uplifting stuff right there. And normally, whenever I'm in just a generally bad mood, I reach for the X Japan. No other band can make me quite as happy as X does.

I usually go way outside the genre for that - fourties! The Andrews Sisters, especially.

some weed will make any music "feel-good" music.

But I do love to listen to Pink Floyds song called Dogs. That does the trick.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I'll also add Christeen, just because it reminds me of when I was much younger.

Lisa Gerrard! Old Genesis! Devin T! Though Power Metal, specifically Edguy or Hammerfall, usually works best. Recently rediscovered the positive side-effects of Fear Factory, too.

YOU KNOW
YOU'VE GOT TO
BACK THE FUCK UP

The new album's a mixture of brilliance and not bad at all. Like Obsolete meets Transgression, if Transgression were great.

Look forward to hearing it. Lately I've been on what I guess is called electro or some shit and it's awesome. I blame drunken weekends with my crew being a dancing fool.

Great fawkin' song and video.
