Since Kansas is currently under about six inches of snow, I thought this would be a great time to ask you all what bands and albums you like to listen to when things get grim and frostbitten outside. My favorites: Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vestusta Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus Coldworld - Melancholie2 Darkthrone - First five albums (Including Soulside Journey) Emperor - First two albums Immortal - Every album Mastodon - Crack The Skye Stratovarius - Destiny, Episode, Polaris, Visions Ulver - Nattens Madrigal Wintersun - s/t Wolves In The Throne Room - Every album |

Rather than embracing the cold weather through music, I've been doing my best to avoid it by listening to music that I would usually equate with summer and warmth. For instance: Electric Wizard - Electric Wizard Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley Colour Haze - All Warm and fuzzy guitar tones abound. I think that that's all for music which has been a (semi-)conscious reaction to the weather outside. The rest of my listening has been, as far as I know, unaffected by the weather. I'm not the biggest fan of winter. |

Wintersun, Windir, Immortal, Klabautamann, Xasthur, early Darkthrone... mostly black metal, but I like a lot of folky/Celtic like stuff too. Flogging Molly, Elvenking (early), Finntroll, Tyr... |
