Well, it's about halfway through the year. What has impressed you so far?

Avantasia - Angel of Babylon
Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony
Dark Tranquillity - We Are The Void
Fear Factory - Mechanize
Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy
Overkill - Ironbound
Rage - Strings to a Web
Sinbreed - When Worlds Collide

Still lots of stuff I need to listen to/give more time to. The above are all standouts so far though.

I'm very much looking forward to what the second half of the year brings, including new albums from Maiden, BG, and Kamelot!

White Wizzard "Over the Top"
Evil Survives "Powerkiller"
Steelwing "Lord of the Wasteland"
Strana Officina "Rising to the Call"
Enforcer "Diamonds"

Still a lot of stuff I need to give more time too.

Jon Oliva's Pain - Festival
Rage - Strings To A Web
Gamma Ray - To The Metal
Dream Evil - In The Night
Sabaton - Coat of Arms
Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy

Really kind of a boring year so far for me.

Abigor - Time Is The Sulphur In The Veins Of The Saint
Alcest - Écailles De Lune
Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here
Cathedral - The Guessing Game
High on Fire - Snakes For The Divine
Ihsahn - After
In Vain - Mantra
Orphaned Land - The Neverending Way of ORwarriOR
Shining - Blackjazz
The Dilling Escape Plan - Option Paralysis
Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones
Watain - Lawless Darkness

Especially the bolded stuff.

I suppose Fear Factory - Mechanize deserves a mention. Not perfect, but very moreish, I find I keep going back to it.

Forgot to put the Heathen on my list. Shame on me.

I have yet to hear at least 3 or 4 albums I'm sure I'll love....but even so, Ironbound deserves at least 3 spots, heh.

If you don't mind your music unoriginal, you'll love it.

It's about as fun and energetic and balls-out awesome as Maiden worship can be.

Oh, and the singer is a belter. Huge, wonderful voice.

Ooh, very surprised to see that's the first mention of Immolation. I'm no fan of brutal death, but I gave that album a listen and heard some very impressive noise in there.

I need to give it a try. Never been a OverKill fan but this one seems to please many people...

In some rank and order:
Dillinger Escape Plan
Arsis
High on Fire
landmine marathon
Ihsahn
Twilight
Misery Index
Danzig

Disappointed by Nachtmystium and Triptykon. Goat needs to bold High on Fire; that album is sick.

Yeah, I like Tom G and all, but despite some massive riffs the Triptykon seemed disappointing.

Seems like a weak year for metal :( I might go and check some of this stuff out, though. TDEP and White Wizzard both look interesante.
