When a lyricist takes the time to include his thoughts on the songs, or elaboratethe creative process endeavored upon in the songs completion, it makes listening to an album a bit more enjoyable. What are some liner notes that you've read, that have given you insight into the creation of lyrics or the process of creating the respective album. Behemoth's albums usually go in depth in terms of Nergal's influences, as well as Lindberg's commentary on the birth of Slaughter of the Soul were two of my favorites to read. |

I liked the Nile ones where Karl explained the historical basis for the songs. |

The ones for Annihilation of the wicked were interesting, as he explained he's a fan of Lovecraft and all of those weird incantations makes for good reading. |

Well, now that you've mentioned Behemoth already I can't think of another band. |

Hm, Panopticon - Collapse has quite interesting liner notes. I really like it when bands try and explain in some detail exactly what they are intending to do and say in their music. Makes you engage with it on a whole other level, I think. |

Maelstrom wrote: Behemoth hands down I find a lot of the Behemoth notes to be really wacky. I love Behemoth's music and have been a fan of the band for years, but all that pagan/Crowley stuff just comes off as really pretentious and silly to me.
