Post subject: | Do you play an instrument? |
I've been jamming (I'm a drummer) with a guitarist 5-6 times a week for the past month and it's going well. I've also been practicing on my own and noticing a lot of improvement. What instrument do you play? Are you dedicated? What are your goals? Do you play in a band? I am starting to love metal drumming again. When I was younger I was unfocused, on medication, my mind was not working properly (it still doesn't) but I am starting to come alive when I play the drums. My chops are getting much better with my new practice routine which consists of playing singles, doubles, paradiddles and a couple other rudiments to an album of my choice. I hope all of you pick up an instrument if you haven't already and start playing. Music is a great gift that all of us enjoy. I love all of you and hope all of you succeed and am glad we share a common love that is heavy metal in all of it's forms. -best wishes Caleb |

I sing and play guitar. Practice routine is a bunch of scales and arpeggios then playing through songs I know, sometimes on my own sometimes with the music. My goal is to play this song without fucking up too many times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPX3u0XJzKM |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPX3u0XJzKM Fake Plastic Trees is better IMO. Still a great song. I "play" guitar butnot with any real focus or the presence of any skill. |

Been playing guitar for 10-11 years. Can also handle the bass pretty well. Same with drums. Played piano a couple of years back, and still got some of it in me. Singer with at least 4 octave range, as well as screaming. |

Played piano a couple of years back, and still got some of it in me. Singer with at least 4 octave range, as well as screaming. What's the lowest note you can hit? I may be completely fucking insane, but I swear I am hitting notes like E1 which is only 41hz! It is very hard to get a chromatic tuner to pick up anything lower than the 3rd octave. It makes sense because the sound I am producing is a hum like a subwoofer. I don't like the vocal fry register myself, so I don't use it. Edit: I'm matching pure sine waves at their exact 440 tuning, so there are no under or overtones to worry about and in my opinion notes sound so far apart at an octave, it isn't like they are easy to confuse. |

Guitarist and singer, but I don't have the technique to do anything metal. I understand the flow of the instrument and the music I can play I do quite well. |

No. The rest of you should all get together and form a band, though. |

Sure. As long as I write all the music. |

This could actually work! DefineInfinity could do the lyrics, Chris could do the album art, I'll review it... |

I don't actually see a reason why not. I'm only set up to do vocals right now anyway. |

So long as we don't have to bear the horrid vision of Frigid in his faux-Scottish attire, I'm all for it! |

Unless anyone wants to play indie, folk or britpop, I'd never enter a studio with any of you. |
