Post subject:  Mandatory metal albums to own?

Topics such as these are always fun to include in a discussion about the music, as it gives us all a chance to see what venerated albums such or should not be mandatory upon threat of dismemberment for a metalhead to own. While the more extreme subgenres have a bit more subjectivity when it comes to owning classics, what are some of the key metal albums that are absolutely imperative to own in ones collection?

Deep Purple "In Rock"
Black Sabbath "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"
Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance"
Saxon "The Eagle Has Landed"
Iron Maiden "Killers"
Iron Maiden "Piece of Mind"
Metallica "Master of Puppets"
Slayer "South of Heaven"
Anthrax "Among the Living"
Coroner "Punishment for Decadence"
Etc.

So many to mention!

Yeah, I do need some Saxon in my collection. I figured Master of Puppets would be in there, luckily its only now that I'm truly familiarizing myself with Maiden so I can say I will buy Somewhere in time my next check. Metallica's material of course is something I already own

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime: Greatest concept album written, and a must own.

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime 2: Epic failure of a concept album that will make you realize just how awesome the first one was in retrospect.

I voluntarily chose to forget many bands so to let others express themselves but, obviously, No Sleep Till Hammersmith is mandatory.

Better go with Walls of Jericho, it's the real thing (not saying Keepers are bad, they're great but not as mandatory as WoJ).

Well it depends on whether one prefers Hansen over Kiske. The Keeper albums to me had more of a major impact than WoJ.

But yeah WoJ is a for sure owner.

As you said the extreme metal stuff is quite subjective but thats mostly what I listen to when it comes to metal so.....

Death - Symbolic
Immolation - Here in After
Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse
Coroner - No More Color
Mastodon - Leviathan
Neurosis - Doesn't really matter, pick one.
Cynic - Focus
Carcass - Heartwork
At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours (personal preference for me, I imagine most would pick Slaughter of the Soul)
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Enslaved - Eld
Ulver - Doesn't matter, pick any.
Obituary - Cause of Death
Opeth - Orchid / My Arms, Your Hearse
Pestilence - Consuming Impulse
Cryptopsy - None So Vile

At The Gates- Slaughter of the Soul (this one never gets old, great lyrics, great music)
Dimmu Borgir- Stormblast
Wintersun- Wintersun
Dissection- Storm of the Lights bane and The Somberlain
Children of Bodom- Hatebreeder
Carcass- Heartwork

for the more extreme metal side, I don't really care about power metal or traditional heavy metal anymore

I forgot how much you like this album... nonessential for metal albums to own and for Angra albums to own. Still good though.

Seriously?
I think other than Turbo, Painkiller (sooo overrated) has that honor.

Point of Entry is classic Priest.
