I've run out of things to listen to. I just sit there and go up and down my list of artists. It's depressing. I need something new. Over the last year or so doom metal has really taken over. But, I also am digging old school metal. Doesn't have to be an 80s band, just has to sound like one. So I am basically looking for some bone rattling old-school sounding doom metal. It has to be heavy, bluesy, and DOOMY. I want it to crush me, but have a sense of rhythym or meoldoy or whatever. Something along the lines of Pentagram, Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre, Electric Wizard, etc.. I also would like to get my hands, and ears, on some old school rockin' metal. Doesn't have to be old, just old school sounding. I was listening to Iron Maiden, Angel Witch, and Court in the Act last night. I want stuff comparable to that, please. so yeah, hit me with your best shots. I can take it. If a band you think I may dig doesn't exactly fit any of my description, still suggest them. I'm hurting for new music, so I'll try just about anything. thanks in advance |

a newer band that has caught my eye is Bison BC. Music is top notch, but am still trying to digest the vocals. |

Bison BC is quality but it has never clicked for me. The newest album is great but I don't love it. The band Howl is comparable. |

Try The Devil's Blood. You'll love it. "The Time of No Time Evermore" is their latest album. "Come Reap" is their EP. Their material is simply fantastic. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbe ... mID=138108 |

Great doomy heavy metal. It's kind of what I'd hope Grand Magus would sound like when they turned more heavy metal and less doom. The doom part are still very present but with the energy of traditional heavy metal to boost them. It's not flashy or anything but with both albums having a great production and rock-solid songwriting, it's a winner for those looking for something along the lines of traditional doom & traditional heavy metal. |
