I have been absolutely in love with bands that sound very 70s with that trippy but still heavy sound to it. Whether it be a band directly from the 70s like Pentagram or Atomic Rooster, or just sound that way like Wichcraft or Asteroid. I want more. Songs like Dunwitch by Electric Wizard, or some old Saint Vitus. I need more. I just bought some Kyuss albums (2nd and 3rd) and don't really like them too much. I will try any and all recommendations. Just find me something, please. |

Just the debut, but I lost it when my iPod broke a few months back. Will try them now. Where should I (re)start? |

I personally think I and II are very good but I haven't listened to them in a very long time. I'm thinking of ordering III on vinyl from amazon. |

I don't like Sahg and really can't stand Kyuss. You might like Cough's Ritual Abuse. It's very standard doom metal but it has it's psychedelic moments and the vocals remind me a lot of Electric Wizard. I always think of Witchfinder General when people say trippy, but I know you listen to them. You have checked out Acid Witch yes? Witchtanic Hellucinations is an awesome album. Or even Dark Castle has a psychedelic vibe to 'em. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzMBnMqyEWw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix8PghwZHmQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dgUkIVDtl4 Ordered in what I think you will love most first. |

Sahg is decent enough to look into more, but they don't hit that note that I am looking for. Trying Cough right now. Literally just started. |

Trying Cough right now. Literally just started. What note? They have great song structure, constant great riffing and rather good vocals. Progressive as well. What do you not like about them? Just curious... Not because I recommended them to you. |

Just missing that old school vibe that I seek. They do what they do well, just not exactly what I am looking for. This Cough is alright, although the singer is kinda annoying. I can get use to him, just frustrating at first. I'm picky when it comes to singers. |

I'm not ready, nor do I think I will ever be for stuff like Acid Witch. I listened to an album, can't remember which one, and was bored as fuck the whole time. |

Cause I'll be honest, Church of Misery was cool until the singing started. I'm a bitch when it comes to singers for this type of music. |

hey wally, do you mind if its a female singer??? if not go with christian mistress. awesome leads and great songs. it took a few spins to start to grow on me but now its in daily rotation. the album is possesion. try the song possession on you tube. thats one of my favorite tracks. also female vocals. jess and the ancient ones. self titled. really good if you dont mind the female singer. also female fronted. royal thunder. a lil more hard rockish than that 70's vibe you wanted but man, i fucking love this album cvi its called. please check it out if you havent yet. its amazing. now male fronted stoner bands. there are alot. monster magnet the sword baracho eagleclaw-all instumental but very riffy gypsyhawk giant squid-The Ichthyologist fucking awesome stoner doom lo pan fu manchu-signs of infinite power- very good black cobra-chronomega- sludgy stoner really good the company band-self titled- pretty damn goodstoner rock orange goblin-eulogy for the damned- fucking amazing album saviours elder-self titled-stoner doom-really good pale divine-thunder perfect mind- may be right up your alley. they are very jammmy and riffy and just great on this album. ive been meaning to order windows painted black but havent gotten around to it yet. thats all i got for ya at the moment wally dolly ding dong. really try those female fromted bands man please. im on a total female fronted occult rock 70's tinged doomy thing lately and those female fronted bands i mentioned are fucking awesome. ![]() |

DevotedWalnut wrote: This is what I am looking for guys: yeah its a mixed list for the male vocals. there is stoner, stoner rock, stoner doom, stoner sludge in there. ive been totally getting in to stoner lately. its weird though cause ill look up stoner bands on various sites and it seems like decent albums get shitty scores because they arent doing anything new. they arent pushing the boundries or whatever. i hate that. i just like to judge an album for what it is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs7795jv ... re=related and holy shit snake, I'll start on the list shortly. so my point is there may be alot of good stoner albums with a 6/10 or a 65/100 and scores like that just because its been done before. so dont let scores scare you off an album. and as for those female bands please check out these songs from the various bands christian mistress- possesion, pentagram and crucifix, and conviction if its on youtube. royal thunder- whispering world, shake and shift, parsonz curse, blue, no good, the whole album is on youtube i think. but please check these guys out. if you spin the album a couple times and let it sink in its truly awesome and they are fucking note for note perfect live. and they were very nice to me both times i met them. jess and the ancient ones-prayer for death and fire, sulfer giants. sulfer giants is a 12 minute epic. i love that song. so check out prayer for death and fire fisrt if you dont want to listen to a 12 minute song. this band is a little bit less heavy but very 70's sounding. and the singer has a awesome voice. and i like the lyrics. i like the lyrics with all three of these bands. out of the male bands. check out orange goblin's album i listed first. its utter awesome ness. then check the others. but please if you listen to the female bands especially royal thunder please give it a good listen before you judge it. ill take any critisism as long as you put the time in with it. i get weird about introducing people to albums i love because im scared they are gonna listen to it once and say its shit. i normally dont share my really loved albums so you should be happy cause i like you enough to recommend that one to you. ![]() haha. seriously though let me know what you think of the female bands when you listen to them. |
