Not a godawful list but the lack of any black metal is very suspect. Mayhem and Emperor at the least should have made the list. Pantera and Metallica are way to high and AC/DC (not metal), At the Gates and Lamb of God (really?!) shouldn't even be on here. Solo Ozzy is a debatable selection as well. Also, replace Testament with Overkill. Real number 1 is Black Sabbath for those who didn't read the article. |

I didn't have any problems with At the Gates being on the list. Pantera and Lambo of God bummed me out. Didn't notice lack of black metal but yeah that's odd. |

ATG were highly influential on latter metalcore, and were one of the first tier bands of the melodic death metal scene. I can see an argument made for their inclusion on the list, but they'd be bottom teens imo. |

ATG is a good band but I wouldn't put them in over a number of more worthy groups, such as Bathory, My Dying Bride, Darkthrone or Kreator. I can see why Pantera is there due to their immense popularity in the 90's and huge influence on metalcore and nu-metal. |

Some of the bands on this list are there because of influence alone. Pantera, Metallica and Ozzy never made top quality metal with maybe a few exceptions. The list is the best 25 metal bands, not the most influential ones. Oh and, Lamb of God LOL. That is even worse than AC/DC. You could fit in some more black and thrash metal bands here such as Mayhem, Darkthrone, Immortal, Kreator and Overkill. Or maybe even Sodom. |

Doom has evolved quite a bit overtime but Sabbath should be considered proto-doom at the very least. You can argue that doom as a well defined sub-genre didn't really exist until the early to mid 80's pioneered by bands like Candlemass, Saint Vitus and Relentless era Pentagram but Sabbath clearly laid the groundwork for what was to come. |

No one is denying anything: obviously Sabbath created the blueprint, that said, they transcend and precede that type of label. They are not a doom metal band, they are a metal band. I missed them during the original band run down because Noodles put Manowar first as a joke. Otherwise I would have put the disclaimer about Black Sabbath up in my original point. But thank god I didn't so I could get an unnecessary lesson from someone so often annoying. |
