I've never been a fan of any of Dave Grohl's stuff, including Nirvana, but Shake Your Blood from Probot (his metal side project) is one kick ass song. But then again, Lemmy makes everything better.

Another take on the usual guilty pleasure topic, this was kicked off for me by this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CTBV3TGgW8 Trivium's Like Light to Flies. I can't stand Trivium generally, but something about this song genuinely *grabs* me, from the chorus which I only have to hear once to get it stuck in my head for days, to the metalcore-gone-guitar-hero bits surrounding it. I should really give their discography a relisten, but the last time I did this stood out as a diamond embedded in a heck of a lot of coal. |

Gretchen Wilson covering the Heart classic Barracuda is surprisingly excellent. Doesn't hurt having Alice in Chains as your backing band either. Hmm I do have a couple songs/albums that would qualify. 16 Tons by Memento Mori is the only song they've done which I like. Additionally though Dragonforce have always bored me with the exception of Valley Of The Damned. Only other song I can think of is Iron Maiden's Lord Of The Flies the only Blaze era song I like. |
