Per Goat's Now Playing thread mention

Lateralus 9/10
Aenima 8/10
10,000 Days 7.5/10
Undertow/Opiate 7/10
Fear Inoculum 6.5-7/10

Still like them a lot overall, but not as much as I once did. Also I do not consider Tool to be a metal band, which I realize is a divisive issue.

tough to rank them really for me but I have greatly enjoyed Tool over the years. Lateralus is one of the first albums I ever really got into and would listen to at a younger age.

What a great thread idea! Ha

Aenima 9.8
Lateralus 9.5
10,000 Days 9
Undertow/Opiate 8.5
Fear Inoculum 8

You can swap the top two around based on whim, both are close to perfect, and I have a lot of love for the others. Pretty much a comfort listen band for me these days, although I do still get a lot out of at least the top 3 when I relisten. And yes, definitely more of a rock band, with all their influence on metal as a whole.

Alright I bumped FI up a little bit, but only because of Invincible. I actually rather listen to Rush now if forced to choose between the two bands, 15 years ago self would hate me.

I thought "Fear Inoculum" was simply fantastic. Tool's musical ambitions are enormous most of which are equally realized, in my opinion. Tool has been consistently great. Why ruin such a great discography by ranking their limited output and erode the experience of listening to Tool?
