Ok, here's the deal: I'm working on several projects right now, but technical difficulties keep me stuck. First question: does anyone know a way to convert midi files to wave/mp3 files? I searched some programs but to no avail (ok, techically I found them, but they all cost bloody money, which is something I can't afford), so recommendations are welcome. Also I know that some prgrams allow you to record sounds from your pc (including midi playback tracks) and store them to audio files - can someone explain what programs I need and how this is done? Quality isn't meant to be the best - the reason is that I'm making some kind of "audio scrapbooks" for my bandmates to practice with, but some of them can't work with pc's so I need to make audio cd's of those files for them (and they're midi projects, made with CakeWalk Music Creator). Part two: I've been asked to make an intro for a cd; short, simple and to the point keyboard intro. Problem is, I can't wait for someone to borrow me a keyboard, so I was wondering if someone could suggest me some "virtual synth" program to sequence stuff on my pc and later export it as an audio file of some sort. If I like it, I might use it for other projects too (mostly intro for my bands; don't fear bedroom ambient masturbation from me). I've already tried Fruity Loops but I have a hard time getting it to work. My best bet would be something that works with a piano roll (a la Cakewalk Music Creator) with some cool plug-ins/effects to make it sound more organic. Thanks in advance! As for the first question, theres a program called Wiretap that records all the sound going through your computer, but it's for mac, and I'm not sure if there's a PC version. Worth a shot to have a look though. It's made by Ambrosia Software. |

Download Audacity, after you've recorded summat you just click convert to WAV or mp3. |
