That is just insane.

Are we talking solos in songs or "it's all about me" solos?

I've been listening to a lot of Arsis and they have some damn good solos.

Just coming of the top of my head. The solos of the following 2 songs get full points for metal energy!!

That's sweet, and definitely incredible for the time period, but it seems like 95% is just him doing drumline-type stuff on his snare.

It's not drumline stuff, there was only one snaredrummer that had more control of his snare than Buddy, but he never had a kit. What buddy does is not putting a lot of rudiments together, he basically breaths doubles, singles, accent and flams at ridiculous tempos. He invented the one hand roll (one without using the rim, you can see it when he blasts on the hihat). My drumteacher, a respectable jazz musician, says he doesn't understand most of what Rich does on his kit.

I'm not a drummer, so I didn't understand half of what you just said, but I'll take your word that he's great since I know that you're a drummer. I'm thinking about playing drums, only thing is I don't have anywhere to put the kit.

Anyways, as for great solos, John Petrucci has a ton of them. "Finally Free" is great, as well as "Erotomania".
