Yeah, I thought the list was interesting enough to post because it had stuff I'd expect to be on a top 2006 list, but then quite a few curveballs as well.

I went and checked out a couple of songs and they sound pretty sweet--what would you guys give the new CD (out of 100)?

Anyways, I haven't even heard of about half the bands on that list so whatever...

Not a bad list, but the Nachtmystium really stands out as a bizarre inclusion. I don't like Mastodon, but the fact that the mainstream media acts like they are the only metal band worth talking about makes them even more annoying.

Interesting list but some crappy stuff in there as well. Shouldn't complain however as I haven't heard 40 really good albums this year so I couldn't make a better one.

Yeah there's a few 2005 albums on there, but they got 2006 release dates in the US so I think they went by that.

I think one thing about this list is that they can't seem to choose between going for experimental/indie type heavy bands entirely, so you get Iron Maiden and Dragonforce next to Mogwai and Cult of Luna and weird stuff like that.

Anyways I heard the Battle Of Mice now, its very, very good. Even better than anything Red Sparowes or Made Out Of Babies have done. Iif you like Neurosis style bands then you should check them out.
