Post subject:  Who do you think is the best replacement?
Could have made a poll out of this, but there might be just too many choices. My choice would be "Corpsegrinder" for Cannibal Corpse. I like his vocals much better than Chris Barnes, although I like Chris too. Another one would be Ripper Owens for Judas Priest. Agreed no one can equal the metal god Halford, but if there was anyone who could match the Halford scream, it was this guy. This thread is not restricted to just the vocalist. Any other person whom you find was an able or better replacement for the original? Oh, how could I forget? I like Bruce much more than Paul Di Anno. I just noticed, the topic should've been "Who do you think is/was the best replacement" since Rob is back in Priest. :P

I don't really like any Barnes-era Cannibal Corpse, but am a fan of pretty much everything from the Fisher-era.

When Steve Digiorgio was the bassist for Death, Testament, and Iced Earth respectivley, he completely blew away whoever played bass before him.

I think the drumming in Hypocrisy has improved dramatically since Horgh replaced Mikeal Hedlund.

Edu Falaci for Andre Matos. I didn't think Angra would be Angra without Matos, but Edu ended up being perfect for the role. Now he is one of my favorite singers.

Ness mentioning Angra reminded me of another excellent replacement - Roy Khan in Kamelot. "The Fourth Legacy" wasn't that good but it already had some very good songs, and every album after that was kick ass. they improved substantially after Khan joined the band.

When David Shankle and Rhino joined Manowar they created the most incredible metal band with the most awesome metal album. But it was a freak aligning of the planets, never to be repeated. You can only imagine my :huh: :mad: when I eagerly anticipated their follow up and recieved Louder Than Hell.

Otherwise, Blaze was a great vocalist for Maiden, but ONLY for the X Factor. Him trying to sing Bruce's songs was just a lost cause.

Ripper Owens is just plain frikkin awesome in anything. Why he doesn't just go solo is a mystery.

Danzig's band on I Luciferi totally blew me away. If he was smart he would have stuck with them for the rest of his (dwindling) career.

The fourth legacy is actually one of my favorites from Kamelot. Khan joined Kamelot on Siege Perilous.

ummmmm... Sigh getting a proper drummer was definetly a good idea. To be honest, I really hate line-up changes, but I'll think of some for the better.
Justin Chancellor joining Tool catapaulted their music to the next level. Comparing Undertow with Aenima is like comparing a penis scrawled on a school book with a Da Vinci.
James Labrie joinig Dream Theater was also great.

I love Andi Deris in Helloween, he is one of my favorite singers and his stuff in this band have been just awesome. I don't mind Kiske no but Andi is an all around more interesting singer. The new live album also proved he could pull off the old classics without problem.

Yeah, although I'm not sure if that has much to do with him. He's a better bassist than Paul D'Amour was but his old band Peach wasn't much proggier than Undertow.

+ I actually like Undertow more than Aenima o.O

I actually can't think of any replacements I really like... although Sikth just lost both their singers, and I kinda hated both of them, so maybe whoever they get next will be.

Count me in on this one. I find Kiske to be one of the most overrated metal singers... his voice is so nasally it completely annoys me. That being said, he sang on the best two Helloween albums.

Both Marty Friedman and Nick Menza joining Megadeth.

That's really the only significant one I can think of right now that hasn't been mentioned already...

yeah i know, but i don't like anyo of the tracks on that one.. "Legacy" had some really cool songs though, the intro, title track (i wish they still played as fast as they do on that one) and "shadow of uther" kick ass, and "until kingdom come" is nice too.

what aobut Phil Anselmo? i only heard one pre-anselmo track and i know there was still another "non-macho" album before Cowboys, but i doubt the old guy could be better than Phil.

I think Abbath replacing Demonaz was a great replacement as well.

Eh. I thought Faust's occasional sloppiness added a bit of character to his drumming. Trym is way too clinical and souless, and tends to blast whether the music calls for it or not

I liked both Trym and Faust for different reasons...and Trym did not blast that much on Prometheus...you may have a point about the other two albums though.
