Um, yeah. Name one nu-metal band that sounds like Children Of Bodom, please.

New track's not bad.

Drop D Tuning automatically equals "Nu-Metal", duh. It's the same reason why people say stupid shit like Exodus' Shovel-Headed Kill Machine isn't true Thrash Metal.

The reason Shovel Headed Kill Machine isn't thrash metal is not because its in drop d, but because its largely groove without... thrash riffs.

The only thing that annoys me about the metalcore trend is that as soon as I hear a band play a melodeath riff or a sweep picking solo it makes me never want to hear them again.

Also how vague the term has become because there's nothing really that 'core about Come Clarity or Threat Signal

Sorry, but I've seen them play the material live and it's chock full of Thrash riffs. Sounded the same as the Bonded by Blood songs they played, not as good of course, but that's the only difference. Modern Exodus is not groovy, not at all. You can say it sucks, but calling it groovy is a fallacy.

Funny... I find them two of the worst 'core bands.

Maybe it's just being a reviewer and so having to listen to a lot of it, but there are bands out there doing something interesting with it rather than copying whoever's flavour of the month in Kerrang.

There are much better metalcore bands than the new In Flames and CoB I'll give them that.

If when they play the album live, they replace the groove riffs with thrash riffs, then you're correct (k, the album is part thrash, but there's a shitload of groove on there too- more than the thrash, from what I remember). And though I have only listened to the album three times, and even granting that the album is thrash, there is no possible way it sounds anything like Bonded by Blood.

I love Come Clarity, don't find it nu-metal or 'core at all.
I acknowledge that Threat Signal are a industrial/'core thingy type band, but I do like some stuff.

I was there and I've listened to the album way more than 3 times. It's really not that groovy, sure some parts of it are, but Exodus has always had an element of that to their music. Force of Habit is pretty much nothing but groove, SHKM is a majority Thrash. Kill Machine is a lot more similar in style and attitude to Bonded by Blood than anything they did with Steve Souza. Rob Dukes does a damn good Bailoff impersonation too. :)
