Interesting. I didn't mind Anette (i like DPP and Imaginarieum) but i cannot say that im disappointed by this. By default Anette voice gave a more popish sound to Nightwish. Nothing wrong with that but i think an operatic or symphonic type vocalist is more suited for the band. Someone with a style like Tarja (duh!) , Simone Simons , Manuela Kraller , Liv Kristine ect. Anette also sounded a bit like a chipmunk with some of her highed pitchs which quite frankly slightly annoyed me (IE : Storytime)

Should be interesting to see who is going to be the replacement.

Now im going to say it before anyone else does ? Could this mean that Tarja is coming back ?

Me personally I rather have Floor as the vocalist rather than Tarja or a clone of Tarja because of the diversity in her vocals which would be ideal for NW because they can combine classical vocals with the same style that Anette did and that would make a very good Nightwish album to say the least.

Any word on the 'real' reason?

So what happened at the Denver show was that Anette had to go to the hospital and then the rest of the band actually asked the crowd if they should cancel or just play the show with the female vocalists supporting Kamelot. Not surprisingly they chose the latter. Anette clearly showed her disapproval of this on her blog because she wasn't asked if it was okay for them to do that.

But there are also rumblings that this was already in the works. Apparently Floor tweeted a photo of herself getting on airplane saying something like, "Something big is about to happen" and this was a day or two before the split was announced. There's speculation that this tour (or a certain section of the tour) was going to be Anette's last with the band and Floor would eventually take over. Again, that's just speculation.

If I had to guess the real reason, Anette just can't seem to handle the physical/mental demand of intensive touring and the band doesn't want to risk any further health issues with her.

I bet they weren't sure how the crowd was going to respond.

It's like an episode of Monday Night RAW. So much drama, nothing good happening. Except when the chicks fight.
