Even though this music is roughly 15 years old, I STILL listen to this CD regularly. Danny Vaughn turns in one of the best melodic hard rock vocal performances ever. It’s too bad that this band never captured this spirit and energy again. In a way, this kind of reminds me of the first Montrose album; great spirited and energetic hard rock, but the band could never recreate the magic after that fine debut. Tyketto was also very good, but Save Your Prayers for me is one of a handful of elite hard rock releases

Nice review but you complety ommitted Pete Way being Involved with Fastway (Fast Eddie Clark from MotorHead) after he left UFO. I believe that was his first band, then Waysted, then back to UFO, could be wrong, but thought others might be interested. The two Fastway albums (All fired up and soundtrack to Shocker) are excellant and if you are into this kind of stuff you would dig it.

Good point on Fastway. You can see that they must have come up with the Waysted name while trying to name Fastway, as they both contain Way and fa(st Ed). I believe they did the soundtrack to Trick Or Treat. The Shocker soundtrack is awesome though. Title track by Paul Stanley. Also megadeth and Alice Cooper!!

Now for Waysted. The hidden gem of 80's hard rock. As much as Fin was great, I was still rooting for this line up. Heroes Die Young and How The West Was Won are GREAT songs. This album did not age well though. The Fin albums are MUCH better. Night Of The Wolf, Sleazy, and Right From The Start are killers from Vices. Marty (best reviewer!) i think didn't mention the EP. Still takes a highly regular turn in my CD rotation. Price you Pay, Won't Get Out Alive (ROCKS) and Cinderella Boys is the best song never heard of .
The Good, Bad, Waysted (with Jerry Shirley after he left Fastway) is in my top 10!
Saw the Save Your prayers line up open for Maiden in Providence ( a top 5 concert). Got front row pics of Paul Chapman!!!

Marty, thanks for reminding the world of Waysted. My Good, Bad, Waysted also includes the EP on it as well. I would recommend this way before Save your Prayers. The Survivor reference was close, but I would mention Cobra (Jameson's pre Survivor band).
Blood On Your Money is one of the great early 80's hard rock tunes!

I was never a big fan of the other Waysted material with Fin...seemed a bit flat to me. I have Vices on vinyl and maybe I should go and listen to it again.....it's been many years. As far as Fastway, I didn't mention Pete Way's involvment as he was out of the band before they recorded their first album and never recorded or toured with them. It's an interesting piece of info but I didn't think it was relevant to the review. Glad to see some positive posts about Save Your Prayers......a personal fav in the melodic rock genre. I was worried about comments of it not being metal etc......I guess those people haven't registered yet for the forums....LOL..........

IMO, Vices is easily the worst of the 3 offerings with Fin. The production on all 3 was a little sub par, so I understand the flat feeling. Just that the EP and The G,B,&W seemed like hard rockin' party music. Just good time rock. 10 times better than Fly On The Wall. Andy Parker's return for the EP gives it an extremely hard driving rhythm. Pete Way's song writing ranges from outstanding (Heroes Die Young, Cinderella Boys) to horrible (Women In Chains, Love Loaded, Knock Knock).

Save Your Prayers was played on my turntable for a solid 6 months. Having loved the Fin stuff, and being cynical about the "new" AOR approach with Danny Vaughan, the fact of the matter is that I loved the album a lot. Let's be honest. This was a blatant attempt (sell out) to ride the Bon Jovi wave in America, even to the poofy hair. I love Pete Way and Paul Chapman, but watching the Heaven Tonight video was just...uncomfortable. The US album cover was even lame. The UK version with Pete Way sitting there with his bass might be one of my favorite album covers of all time!!!

I think Tesla (not to be cnfused with ANY hairband) did on Mechanical Resonance what Waysted were looking for in the mid 80's.

Long live Waysted and UFO!!!
