I am not thrilled by this album but still it's a solid effort though I have to give it a few more spins to come to a final judgement. Frost's hammerwork is obviously the driving force behind this band and I cannot really hear all the stuff going on because he is so fucking dominant over the songs.

70/100 will be my score, it gets boring after a while but it has some good moments.

This album just keeps changing faces so much, it is like a chameleon, so it never gets boring for me. But Frost indeed dominates.
Nathicana and Hellfire are killer tracks - can't get them out of my head.

65 for the album, it's pretty good. I came to a 55/100, 10 points substracted for the lack of kvltness :wink:

Seriously, if you like this a lot, I suggest checking out Funeral Mist - Salvation, which is actually blasting just as loud, but has a far more crushing atmosphere (this hasn't really got an atmosphere). I'd rate Salvation 70 or 75 out or 100, no substractions because it's damn kvlt :x :wink:

One more question: why is this the surprise of the month? It sounds exactly like the other 1349 releases.

Explanation per the "Surprise" label - I was surprised this sounded quite diverse, and I am hearing plenty of atmosphere in Nathicana, Hellfire and From the Deeps, three best tracks on the album. For me, who doesn't listen to Black Metal only, this sounded quite above average, thus the score.
I bow to your knowledge, however.

yeah, just two years after the start of the hundred years' war

but an odd name nevertheless. I can't imagine a conversation in which one has to say' thirteenfourtyeight' each time when reffering to this band.
