Yeah this is one of my favorites for the year. Good one by Dream Theater, still not as good as Train of Thought though.

I don't know, I think it might be as good as Train of Thought. Absolutely amazing CD...

This is only the second Dream Theater I've ever heard after Images and Words, which I love. This new one I'm not liking so much, though. Some stuff on it may grow on me with time, but I don't ever see myself even remotely enjoy the song "The Dark Eternal Night", it's just blatantly in the style of Korn, with a more generic version of Politics-era Nevermore thrown in as well. Dream Theater just sound so damn awkward when they're trying to be all "tough guy" metal by throwing in gang vocals and distorted vocals, this also plagues the otherwise solid "Constant Motion". Makes me cringe every time really.

I love this one, way better than Train of Thought in my opinion. I really don't mind Dark Eternal Night, but I agree about Constant Motion, it's just .. ugh.

This is their best, and most mature album since Falling Into Infinity. This is what Scenes should have been. Catchy great songs, not ever over the top but always professional and with everything in there serving the music itself, you'll find surprisingly little wanking and other pretentiousness in here. That hasn't been the case in the past with Dream Theater and because of that i've preferred bands like Ayreon and Symphony X over them but this time they got it right. And who cares if they do some tributes to Metallica on a song as long as it's a tribute and as long as it's not on all songs. And I mean it's obvious they put a lot of effort into Constant Motion, it's not just some cheap rip-off.

The lyrics should get some attention aswell. I really like the darker and more mystical lyrical themes thay use this time and i think it fits perfectly with the music on this record, that kind of stuff is what i usually prefer bands to write about anyway.

A great DT album, even for DT. I guess i might be a bit hysteric right now but im sure that even with time this album for me will stay up there as one of my favorites by them.

Awesome album, one of their best in my humble opinion. This one's pretty low on wanking too.

check out Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior, it's like LTE but with less metal and from the 70s.

edit: also Tony Levin's other fuzak project with Steve Stevens and Terry Bozzio is pretty sweet too.

Im a big DT fan, and have been for some time now so I was very excited for this album. For whatever reason, after 10 or so listens, i feel that I dont connect with the music, and no song except in the presence of enemies stands out. I hope this 1 grows on me because right now, its too bleh.
65/100

Ok will do and I have one of the other group you mentioned think it's called Bozzi,Levin,Steven's"Situation dangerous" or something really good. I don't mind Planet X but On ther Virg which was an earlier project of Virgil Donati is really good also awesome drumming.

I must be the only one that really likes Constant Motion...I think it's awesome how they're able to fuse their sound with thrash. I love the riff, and the instrumental break is out of this world...I love when the main riff kicks back in with that super-fast keyboard solo over it.

But, that's my opinion...apparently others don't agree with me

Constant Motion does have awesome riffage, in that song's case it's only the vocals I don't care for.

I didn't like Constant Motion at first, but it fits in well with the album.

Yep, it's a good song and very worthy of being on the album.
