What the fuck is wrong with you? DragonForce are a goddamm gimmick, even they know it, whereas Manowar are trying to do the best fucking job they can to make the best heavy metal they can. They are not formulaic, they are not a "faster=better" band, they just live for what they do, and give as much as they can to it, and the result is audible.

Yeah, that's also true. Goddammit, you're pissing me off so much.

And the result is most of the time boring. Manowar are average at best and very overated. There are tons of bands who are making "truer" and better metal like E.G. Grave Digger. Rage. Hammerfall. Mystic Prophecy. Brainstorm. Symphorce.

Manowar are taking it so seriously that they are made a caricature out of them.

Hamerfall better than Manowar? only if you take first two hammerfall albums and last two Manowar albums and compare. In every other comparation you're wrong.

All IMO: Here and there Manowar have a good song, e.g.: Fighting the World, Kings of Metal, Ride the Dragon, King of Kings, Carry On, The Gods made Heavy Metal, Return of the Warlord or Loki God of Fire. But in general I don't like their sound. Heavy Metal - and especially TRUE Metal should have a good sawing guitar sound. Manowars sound is very sloppily. Is this a guitar? Is this a distorted Bass? Or is it something else? HF and DF have both a much more clearer and fuller sound. Manowar sounds sometimes too thin for the ambition to be the truest of all HM bands.

Manowar also recorded their songs a decade or longer ago... Production is really a non-issue here.

I never knew that Manowar was so highly regarded...always thought of them as a gimmick band that kind of sucks. Haven't heard hardly anything by them, though, so I won't pretend like I know what I'm talking about.

So production makes a band better? Going by the logic you just used, Tokio Hotel is better than ...And Justice For All.

The difference ist, that Dragonforce sure know how cheesy they are. There was an interview in the current Rock Hard in germany and they were asked if they are power metal because of their Dragon, Swords and Warrior lyrics and the one from the band said, that's not true, because it all has a deeper meaning and they are actually a mix of Thrash, Hard Rock and Power Metal.

Manowar are taking the whole true metal thing too serious. I mean, if you are a body builder in leather pants and you are singing: "whimps and posers leave the hall"...

The guys in Manowar are the last people I'd want to get into a fight with.

The problem with Dragonforce is that nothing they do feels genuine or inspired, it's a waste of time to listen to when there are so many other bands out there putting their heart and soul into their music. Manowar inspire people, I'm not into their music, but I do respect them for being genuine.

Also, stop calling everything thrash for fucks sake.

There is nothing thrashy about Dragonforce.

Whether Manowar are taking it seriously or are just in on the joke, I don't know.

Either way, it makes me laugh.

Best argument against Dragonforce yet. Their songs do kinda feel manufactured/soulless. I'm not a DF hater and I'd agree with that.

But they have solos.

It was the guy from the band in the interview who said that they are a mix of these styles.

And please don't take that "Thrash" influence means, they are sounding like Slayer or so. Thrash influence means, that some riffs are Thrash riffs and nothing more. E.g. Iced Earth have a lot of Thrash in their music, but I'd never call them Thrash Metal.
