And Zad there isn't anything wrong with the feminist movement per say but sometimes I think they take things too far as far as sexism is concerned but that's a whole new argument we can take up later.

Fine; but they're still completely different genres of music, and if these two bands were fronted by men the comparison would simply not be made.

My only problem with this album (i'm not getting involved with any of the previous posts) is that it's the same song written over and over, which is what Lacuna Coil have been doing their whole career. Yet it seems to take them several years to write a collection of fairly basic tunes. When they started it was all new and exciting but they are one of the few bands of their ilk that haven't progressed both creatively and sonically. Shallow Life is ok if taken on its own merits but as a Lacuna Coil album it's same ole boring one trick pony stuff. You'd have thought they were capable of so much more.

Good review and sums it up pretty well. It['s a pity we'll have to wait about 4 years to see if they can come up with something a little less stale.

I may check this out but I'm not sure. I saw them live about two years back with In Flames, and outside of Christina sounding exactly like she does on CD, they weren't that entertaining.

probably because 99% of metal bands are fronted by men. also Lacuna Coil and The Gathering do sound similar enough to be compared, unlike say Lacuna Coil and Made Out of Babies
