TBH Death Magic Doom rapes King of the Grey Islands.

+1
King of the Grey Islands was good, but not awesome. This one is really great.

This review should have the album of the year tag.

It may very well be my album of the year, but I feel weird about slapping that tag on an album in June. Just personal preference. Its certainly the leader in the clubhouse at this point.

What does the month have to do with anything? I've seen the tag much earlier, and applied to lesser albums. Example: http://v2.metalreviews.com/index.php?op ... &Itemid=33

Besides, the tag doesn't really mean that the album is indeed THE album of the year, it only means that the reviewer thinks it may well be. Anyway, I only meant that I think it worthy of the tag, not that the reviewer should modify it. Although new Anaal Nathrakh's got me thinking.

Oh, I know its been done before, I just don't do it. To me, "Album of the Month" notes a candidate for album of the year, as in there are 12 months and 15 albums on our year end lists. I try to go back after year's end and slap the AOTY tag on an album (i.e. Rev Bizarre or Hammers of Misfortune) Again, its just my preference, same with the fact that I only list three songs in the killing songs section. By no means do I think everyone should do things that way, though.

Went ahead and checked out The Bleeding Baroness...I guess doom metal just isn't my thing--it seemed like a pretty good song, but if that's the best, I don't think I would enjoy a whole album. Seems kinda like heavy metal without the energy.

:omfg: :omfg:

No way dude, doom metal is some of the heaviest shit you can listen to. And energy? You need to hear Black Stone Wielder or Doom All Over The World.

That said, I really need to check this one out, since only a few weeks ago I checked out King of the Grey Islands, and TBH it was OK but it wasn't as good as their other albums.

I agree those songs are amazing, especially the later. What I think he's picking up is the slower pace and taking that as lesser energy.Even ol Sabbath is like that.Hell,I'd hate to see what he thinks about Funeral Doom, one of may favorite genres.Ahab,Shape of Dispair,Funeral,Worship and Doom:Vs,I could go on...

Good review and one hell of an amazing album. When I first heard it I couldn't stop listening to it,had to keep hitting repeat, something I never do.AotY contender for me,at least top......15.Its been a good year.
