Holy Terror isn't actually a Metalhead. He's a guy who likes a few Metal albums, and compares everything else negatively to them, and can't accept anything which doesn't sound almost exactly like them. Were this a political debate, he'd be the worst sort of conservative; as it is, he's just a bit of an annoyance.

Still, this Slam Death malarkey is pretty shit.

This is the second time I've heard the term "Slam Death" do we need another death metal label.

We have:

Melodeath
Technical Death
Brutal Death
Blackend Death
Slam Death

Waiting for the Quassi Symphonic Blackend Harmonic Death Metal with Pseudo Disco Elements!!!!!!

Never has a more incorrect statement been made. I would expect more from someone with your position on the website. In any case, this comment is so stupid that I'm not even going to bother responding to the substance of it.

Clearly. Right on the money. And you're not slouch yourself. I wish I had your ability to not know somebody yet somehow magically....know them.

I'm disappointed to hear they've changed their sound. I really love their one from 2007. Been jamming it a lot lately.

Also there seems to be some haterade on this type of genre on this board. If you guys don't like a genre I don't understand why you review albums from it. That doesn't make sense to me.

Defeated Sanity aren't slam death metal, though. Or has the term become interchangable with brutal death metal?

It's been interchangeable for the most part.

I finally got a hold of this. I imagine it was all of the people giving them shit for their first album but they seemed to have tried to make themselves a bit more approachable to the holier than thou metal crowd by going a bit more death metal this time around.

I think it's a total shame. Their first album slays in my opinion and I've been addicted to it for awhile. The off the wall vocals and utter disregard for traditional song structure and overuse of breakdowns was really enjoyable to me. Something to smash around to.

That being said this is kinda watered down stuff that has flashes of brilliance. It doesn't really come together though and I imagine their next album will probably be more death metalish than this one is, or it'll stick to being generic deathcore stuff like this.
