For the group, I'm not interested in modern groove/nu-metal/whaterver similar, so I'd pass.

If it's mediocre don't just put it out there. If you can't keep up with two new reviews do some archives of albums you love. Take two weeks to write a solid archive rather than two rushed reviews you don't approve of by your own standards of judgment.

If he wants to continue writing reviews, I would hope that he accepts constructive criticism.
