Great album. Look here for song meanings:

I love them so much for writing songs about Wheel of Time and A Song of Ice and Fire.

Interesting. I was wondering if Road Of No Release was Tolkien-related because the piano melody at the end is the exact same one found at the end of Noldor, so I thought perhaps there was some connection between them. I guess not!

Easily one of this year's best albums, should have gotten a 90 or more. Every song slays.

I need to get this. I've put it off long enough.

New Angra, BG, Helloween... what a year for power metal.

What a year for german heavy/power especially. Gamma Ray, Rage, BG, Accept, Grave Digger, Helloween, pretty much every big name in Germany thought it would be cool to release albums in 2010. Damn good albums as well.

Definately better than the last one, but I think ANATO has better songs on it. Soulforged, And then there was Silence, and Battlefield are better than anything on this new one.

My biggest complaint has got to be a lot of the choruses. Some are just terrible, Tanelorn in particular has one of the worst choruses BG has ever written. But like I said before, better than the last one, but as I said in the labyrinth post, bands have a lot of difficulty recapturing their old sound, BG is no different.

Now before some of you hypocrites attack me, this is a forum for posting one's opinions. Regardless of how redunant or thematic you may think my posts are, I love BG a lot, to the point where I will express my thoughts about their latest output, just like anyone else. Don't be angry merely because my opinion conflicts with yours.

This is a really great album! I still find better 'A Night at the Opera', but this one has grown a lot.

I definitely think that 86 is way too low for such a great album. Compared to the other BG albums, I'd give this one a score around 95 (of course, as stated before, it's a matter of opinion; that's mine). But as always with BG, you need to take a lot of time and spins to discover all the little details that make this music so epic and unique.

I also have to disagree with the reviewer's opinion about Control the Divine. I like this song a lot, as well as Valkyries.

In addition, I think the reviewer wasn't clear enough about how great the Wheel of Time is! It is incredible and, for me, it is the second most epic BG's song ever (of course after "and then there was silence", which is out of reach...)

Anyway, a great album, one of the best of the year!! It is definitely worth! (although as mentioned before, there is a lot of competition this year, which is great of course!!)

It is about time Blind Guardian released an epic song about the Wheel of Time.

Bleh .. Wheel of Time nearly killed my interest in fantasy. The only fantasy I've been able to stomach since are George RR Martin and Guy Gavriel Kay.

Yep, so almost two months later, this album is still awesome. Sacred Worlds, Ride into Obsession, Valkyries, and War of the Thrones are among the best songs Blind Guardian have ever done. Even Curse my Name has grown on me, though dialing down the cheese would have been a swell idea for that one.. Only real weak spot therefore is Control the Divine, but I'm willing to forgive that, because there's nothing like awesome BG to make me happy.

Honestly, the first part of that post was only really a setup for the second part, which was just a thought that occurred to me and I found amusing.

Still, WoT got good again with book 12.

Yeah +1, im still loving this album aswell, but for me the weak spot is War Of The Thrones, not that is a bad song but it just hasnt clicked with me like rest, oh and i'd include Road Of No Release in the killer tracks.

It makes me happy that you're happy.

I've listened to this twice all the way through and I love it. I haven't decided what my favorite songs are yet though.

This album get's a 30 from me. The only songs that are good are Ride into Obsession (which I admit is awesome), A Voice in the Dark (which is only good, but does have awesome parts), and Curse My Name. The rest of the songs are quite bland. Tanelorn is deceiving because it starts off like an old BG, but then it just falls flat. It has the worst chorus they have ever written.

Sacred World is too long for a song that has such little action in it.

Valkyries and Control the Divine are boring as hell, and frankly the melodies they chose were the wrong ones.

War of the Thrones is unnecessary. The album didnt need this track at all.

Tanelorn could have been such a great song, but they took the easy way out on the chorus. I am really disappointed with this song. It's predecessor is one of the greatest metal songs ever. Admittedly a touch act to follow.

Ride Into Obsession should have been the model for all songs on this album. Sadly, it was not.

Tanelorn is one of my favorites from the album. The chorus is awesome. Those harmonies are heavenly.

 @ Sacred Worlds comment.

What about Wheel Of Time?

Hmm, I bought a digital copy and I don't see Wheel of Time, guess I'll have to youtube-it-up.

Yeah, Sacred World is not very good. It's too long and very boring.

Sacred Worlds is badass, probably my favorite off the album after A Voice in the Dark and Wheel of Time. Then again, I've been hearing the original for years now and it grew on me.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what happened. I'll find the song and give it a listen.
