GTFO!

Hmm, a new album from a "popular" metal band and you refer to fecal matter and use incredible amounts of hyperbole in describing how bad it is. Shocking.

That being said, this band just bores me to death. Their older stuff is decent, but everything Glasgow just seems so bland. Lots of stuff I'd rather listen to.

Yeah, I really don't know about this guy. Liking AE's late stuff more than their early stuff is the ultimate sacrilege.

I wouldn't give it 10, or 87. Without having heard it, I know exactly what it'll sound like, and know that it won't be as good as the Liiva stuff, but will be entertaining enough for a listen or two. Their new image annoys me, as I mentioned in the review for Stigmata, but I'll get around to hearing this eventually anyway. Those wordless onlookers who haven't heard every Carcass album yet but who are thinking about getting this, try shaking your world up with Necroticism or Symphonies of Sickness first. And everyone check out the new Exhumed if they're just looking for enjoyable death metal, good meaty fun.

Good review, even if I disagree with bits - that snippet about hollowness is very true, however.

Is that just studio production, or are they just not very harsh at all?

What about Cadaveria (Opera IX) and the chick singing in Sinister? Both are very good. I like especially Sacro Culto (1998) by Opera IX.

Johan Liiva sounds like a cross between an angry pitbull and a four decade smoker. Angela's lungs are probably half his size and she can do better and clearer.

That would be funny if that were true, though its been my longstanding contention Arch Enemy have never had a good vocalist. Liiva just sounds better than Gossow, because Gossow has no range and sounds like an evil computer in the latest albums. This album really sucks as even Anthems of Rebellion had better and catchier songs than this, and even that album showed them on a visible creative decline.

Liiva is annoying and Gossow is average imo

Wow man Liiva is a hoarse and awful vocalist and you're wishing death upon me like he is some sort of deity and we should all be blowing his great phallic wonder.

Both are quite mediocre.

I don't know anything about any deity. I'm an atheist that likes to experiment spiritual voyages through mushrooms.

If you want to suck phallus, I can't stop you. Zad told me to be tolerant with the minorities and gays.

Maybe Liiva sounds better on shrooms. I'll give it a shot. I'm pretty sure there's a big reason why nothing he has done since has made any headlines. If I wanted to hear a dog bark I'd go to Miami and watch the pitbulls.

Classical music is better suited for a shroomy experience. I've never heard Arch Enemy on mushrooms. That would be such a waste...

This album is meh as is everything they have done after Wages of Sin. However I think Angela is a fine vocalist, the real problem is the stagnant song writing. The riffs aren't brutal, the melodies aren't moving and the solos are just fluffy at this point (nothing particularly powerful about them, just solos for solos sake).

I imagine anyone that likes Arch Enemy post Wages of Sin will enjoy this one just fine but it was pretty bland to my ears. 87 is too high but anything below 60 is too low.

Liiva really isn't that great of a vocalist, but I find him endearing nevertheless.

Speaking of hoarse, Hearse is a pretty good band.

87/100? I doubt it but I'll check it out.

As for Liiva he is pretty poopy.
