The cover looks like a complete ripoff from the Turisas album, and that's bad, they should have been more careful with it.

YEAH! I had been spamming that band for a while here as well. Check out Far Away From The Sun for GOOD black metal that's like old Dissection but just, ehm, better.

Yeah, def you like this stuff in 2006 should get the real things. If any of you kids can find the old Firestarter comp from Century Media when they still had Century Black it has some Sacramentum on it that can give you a taste. Plus their are naked women on the insert.

Naked women, you say?

Ken, check Turisas out. I thought everyone knew about them!

Glad someone is as old as me, so that they remember about Century Black and has that Firestarter compilation. I remember it getting me into some BM I did not know about.
However, it feels as though I have to defend my stance a bit. Done, or not done before, Armada is one cool album many people coudl enjoy, whether they are more elitist BM fans or the fans of the extreme genres period, and I dare to say that some less than extreme fans could give this a try to. The fact it has across the genre appeal does not denigrate the album in and of itself.
I, for one, can enjoy Wolves in the Throne Room and Keep of Kalessin just the same, for totally different reasons.

From what I've heard so frar this album is pretty damn good, I might end up buying it. Great musicianship, and interesting vocals as well.

From Archives:

In december 2004, A.O Gronbech, along with Steinar Gundersen, who were playing live for Satyricon in their North American tour, were arrested in Canada and accused of drugging and raping a woman in their tour bus after a show in Toronto. The remainder of the tour was cancelled. The two members were released from jail on bail and are awaiting another court date in Canada.

Gronbech's (or "Obsidian Claw"   ) the guitarist...

Some songs are cool, most are boring and the same riff for 10 songs? wtf? yeah the comp got me into Katatonia, Tiamat, Opeth and others, great comp for your kids. You can get it at BB for like 3.99 I still see it there. Shit CM used to be so cool till the release then new Lacuna Coil, the should have flushed taht shit but they will make bucks off of it so cool for a label that needs it.

On this album the band sound like they aren't sure what they want to play. It' s a mix o black & death with clean vocals interventions which sound totally out of the place. Those songs sound better live, but this album is a disappointment for me.

Out of place? Is supposed to be an album of Epic Extreme metal...not black, or death...

I think that's a very appealing description, apart from the vocalpart. I mean, who does want to sound exactly like a typical death or black metal band nowdays?

I understand what you mean :) However this whole sounds for me like they didn't know what to play. And it's a bit too melodic. I preferred their earlier albums...

Then we understand eachother
I have not heard their earlier albums yet, will have to do that.

I just realized that this reminds me a bit of Naglfar, in particular Sheol.
