I hate this band with a passion, this cd doesn't change anything. Noodles is gay.

It's a middle of the road album for a band that is changing its music direction, from something I can't stand to something that can be great. Anthem, to the rats and specially the crusade (the best song by far of the album) show that the way is good, and they are doing a good work. But the vocals need to improve, and erase some metalcore influences that raise here and there, to give us a really outstanding record. It's a solid 75 for me, but for the next album I expect a lot from them.

Hopefully an album like this can help open up the doors for some of the great underground metal acts to reach a wider audience........

Um...does nobody listen to me? Evile have just been signed to Earache and they bum off Mettallica aswell but they're not gay as fuck, they kick ass and they're English. I f anywayone's gonna opern doors it'll be them.

http://evile.co.uk/main.htm

Holy shit dude! THis is aweseome!

Oh child, you have much to learn. Look for Pitiful Reign, Mutant, Deadfall, Headless Cross and some other Uk thrash bands like Amok and Gama Bomb. It's all good shit.

Yes, I do... about thrash that is.

Mwuhahaha*cough*hahaha...

I have a lot to learn about thrash too, Otaken is the king round these parts methinks.

This is a very well written and fair review. Hard to argue with anything that was said. I am not a fan of this band but I can see what some people like. The comments on authenticity were perfect. There are some bands that just do not have that "Metal Spirit." I am not trying to say all bands need to be troo metal, but they should give off an ambiance of metal at the very least. Trivium just seems a bit too processed.

- i know that sounds gay but I couldnt come up with anything else.

Yeah that comment was a little crude, but it doesn't sound like they're trying very hard to me.

I seriously question why you even listen to music? All you do is complain about EVERYTHING. Does that make sense to you?

I like a lot of music, just no one ever talks about it since its not very popular since I can't stand catchyness since having songs stuck in your head is annoying.

So you like bad music, then?

Here's an idea: Why not try to CREATE conversations? Usually when you discuss a new band you don't say much at all. Why not try to entice people into checking a band out or discussing the band? If no one knows the bands you listen to, ENLIGHTEN them! Create a foundation to build a conversation on. What the hell is "Album of the year by a long shot" going to do to generate conversation if no one knows the band?

the reason those screams sound different, like on To The Rats and Becoming the Dragon, is because it is the other guitarist who is doing it. at least that is what ive heard.

totally solid album for me. 90/100

According to the Metal Reviews rating system you think this album is a masterpiece.

I still don't think this is anything special. Not bad by any means, but nothing fantastic. It doesn't do anything for me like say "Bloodbath, Helloween, Opeth, Napalm Death." Good review Jason. 64/100

the reason i would give it a 90/100 is because it has a listenablility(sp) to it that I enjoy. all of my favorite albums are ones that i can go back and keep listening to and they are still fresh. im not saying that The Crusade is one of my favorite albums but it is an album that I can listen to multiple times and not get bored with it. so its an 85-90/100 for me.

I have a problem with over quoting albums too.

No way is it a 90/100. I'd say 75/100 is accurate, no more than an 80.

Uh, no.

This album, while not great, is at least decent.

Ascendancy is balls.

I don't like to say things like that... but Ascendancy is horrible, awful and shit. Only the Crusade song is worthy 1000 ascendencies.

see i have to dissagree with you guys i thought ascedancy had more depth to it

it was a little more edgy , sure heafy isnt the best screamer but it had a layer to it that i just dont hear in the crusade

some of my favorite bands are the ones that can go from lamb of god or suffocaton screams to an almost alice in chains harmonies

they did that in ascendacy and i think this is the beggining of the end for trivium

Just know that you're the only non-mallcore fag on the planet who thinks that. Actually, I guess I don't know that you're not a mallcore fag, but I'll assume you aren't because you're on these forums...

Give up, Eyesore, he says he hates catchiness, but damn... listen to him talk thrash... "The band opens with cool melodic accessable harmonies, then suddenly they lose me as they start playing... oops, can't finish my point, I'm due at the nail salon."

Jesus Christ... "Weird parts" are just as "gimmick" and accessable as fucking meloharmonic unoriginality that's unbefitting of the band's downtuning, and you love both, you lady. Just admit you can't sit down and listen to an album from start to finish unless it's chock full of the cliches that'd compare to CGI and explosions in block buster movies.

Gimmicky bands tend to entertain me at first but then after like 2 listens I realize they're pretty dumb, unless they play their gimmick really, really well like Mr Bungle and Estradasphere do. And I don't really care about originality, but I'd rather listen to bands that rip off King Crimson than bands that write 3 minute verse/chorus/verse/chorus/break/chorus songs.

I kinda gave up on trying to start discussions on this forum because I remember when I was only into metal I thought Minus The Bear were emo, so I assume that would be most people here's reaction to anything I like these days.

Are you saying that b/c you like a band we won't? Is that a goiter on your neck?
