Who cares about how long songs are anyways?

I don't care either it was just misinformation I had to correct.
If people criticizes a band they might as well get their info right.

Hmm, might be the diffinition of a long song though, for me, long songs are 20+ minutes.

They also have the occasional long song :P

The occassional long song ?

6 out of the ten songs on Deadwing are over 7 minutes
they actually have quite a few if you ask...

weird, for some reason the only two songs on Deadwing I thought of as "epic" were Deadwing and Arriving Somewhere But Not Here :P

I haven't heard many people complain about Wilson's vocals. I always thought they were great.

Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson pwns you all. End of story.

Fear Of A Blank Planet is a great album, but I still can't wait for the re-release of Lightbulb Sun so I can finally get my dirty hands on it.

I kind of liked Deadwing. Surely this band is what I'd call a gay band but they are ok.

I've found the use for this band: Revision!

Studying for 3rd year uni exams right now and chucked this album on. It's perfect as you don't get distracted by it. The Voyage 34 album is good for the same reason. Pain of Salvation's new album also good for this reason, as is Riverside's Second Life Syndrome - although that's a great album anyway

I'm gonna get this album arf

And they sound more to me like an Alternative band with Prog Rock tendencies.

And Public Enemy released an album in the early '90s called Fear Of A Black Planet. lollerskates

So far I'm really liking this. A little more of the Tool/Meshuggah influence, and it's always nice to hear Alex Lifeson.

:lame: It's musical history. Worth knowing, esp. when other bands like PT pay homage.

I'm digging these guys too. A buddy of mine played them not to long ago. I'll have to look into this one.

I found this album kinda boring. It's not a CD you can listen to in one session.

I kinda found the same thing... the first time I listened to it all the way through, the second time I turned it off after Anesthetize and then the third I just listened to Anesthetize.

Stephen Wilson's vocals and lyrics annoy me so much.

I assume you bought this, right?

I didn't like this band at all at first. I guess I expected something different. To me, they came off as more of an alternative indie rock band with progressive influences. I actually only own Deadwing and the Lazarus CD single, so the rest of their stuff may be different, but more recently I've been listening to that album again, and now I'm really enjoying it.

I think that expecting something like Redemption, I was simply let down. So I gave it a few spins since the album came out, and eventually it just clicked. Now I really dig it. I still don't own anything else, though.

Of course, if I'd downloaded this one it would have been deleted long ago and I'd still be of the opinion that it sucked. Ah, we can't all be noodles.

Glad to see people start enjoying this.
For me, it has been one of this years best release so far.
I've been a fan of Porcupine Tree since I was introduced to them through In Absentia, and they have yet to decieve me with a release. For those new to the band, I'd suggest them to check out Stupid Dream and In absentia to really awesome releases. The first on has pink floyd influences and the second marks the start of heavy metal influence in their music.

If you have a chance to see them live take it, they are an awesome live band you'll like their music even more once the show is over. I'll be seeing them for the second time Oct 15th and i'm hoping for another memorable performance from Steven Wilson and the gang.

The new album's a lot heavier. If you like Tool, you'll probably like this.
