Because true thrash people can't like anything that's popular.

Whoever wrote this is high. They had something going with Shadows are Security and then they ruined it with this shit.

I don't get what's inherently bad about breakdowns. I mean, yeah, sometimes they suck, but not always and I don't think that's the case with AILD. That breakdown in "Within Destruction" is pretty sweet, and it's definitely not used as an easy substitute for song structure (btw, solos can be misused in the same way, just usually cooler than breakdowns...). So yeah, metalheads baffle me...

I think it's because they're a lazy, cliche, overdone arrangement, most bands just throw them in for the sake of having a badass CHUGCHUGCHUGCHUG part, sort of like how most metal bands throw in a couple of guitar solos in the last third of a song to show that they can make their fingers move fast and are thus not faggots. They're things that can be awesome when used well, but most bands just use them for the sake of having them.

Every style of music has a particular staple in it, core just happens to have breakdowns, two steps, and mosh riffs. It's not particularly terrible unless it's slam death, Attack Attack, or terrible deathcore bands. It doesn't really matter all that much ; anything is better then depressive black metal.

I like breakdowns but so many bands ruin songs with the obligatory breakdown. Same goes with solos. Like I love Unearth to death but their freakin' songs always have to have a breakdown and a typical breakdown build up.
