I heard SYL and wasn't best pleased but I know these guys are the masters of keeping you on your toes! Also got Napalm Death - Scum arriving tomorrow for £4.00. Glad to finally promote that one to CD!

Alien is waaaayyyyyyyy heavier than SYL.

I think SYL is heavier, Alien is weirder and a less stripped down sound though

I'm not a big fan of SYL personally, it doesn't keep my attention. I find Alien to be flat out amazing though, and I rank it right up there with City. Alien contains a lot of pure raw emotion, and I think that makes it feel heavier.

I just love how stripped down SYL is, it's totally centered around the amazing guitar sound

Listening to this as a whole and not as a couple of downloaded tracks (like I had before) really makes the difference! I feel like Gene Hoglan literally did kick his boot straight through my chest-that's some immense drumming on there.

I suppose the unpredictability is predictable (or should it be predictably unpredictable? ), but I certainly should have bought this sooner. And it IS waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy heavier than SYL

The New Black next to get then!

Get The New Black, but if you're expecting something close to Alien or SYL or City you're mistaken. It's more like his solo stuff mixed with SYL. It's good, but a lot of Strapping fans were disappointed with it.

The New Black: Better Than City.

I got the vibe that as far as the 'Lad went, The New Black was more, erm... Mainstream (?) sounding in the sense that it a bit more, erm... mellow (?) in comparison.

I'll find it out for myself, but I've always liked the 'keep you on your toes' factor of this band/guy, so I won't expect a City or Alien part II.

Going back to Alien, I've been with it for two days now and I think it's awesome. A shame 'Info Dmp' did the Tool thing and fucked a perfectly good album with unnecessary noise. I like art, but I like a point

I wouldn't really call New Black mainstream, it's just got more emphasis on the goofy rock side of SYL and less anger; and it's not very good. I think Zad said it reminded him of a b-side collection and I agree with that

Oh and I still am a SYL noob, only 2 albums City and The New Black. It may be because I havn't listened to City that much but I don't find it as good as everyone says.

A fact to someone who has the shittiest musical taste possible. As in adoring bands manufactured for angsty teens.
