Cradle of Filth never really had the black metal sound to me on any of their material. Yeah their were some black metal influences but they will always just be a metal band to me with their own unique sound.

Sure, COF never sounded like Darkthrone or Gorgoroth or Venom (HA!) BUT when the second wave began, EVERY f'n Black Metal Band had a different sound. Hell, the first three Darkthrone Black Metal records had a different sound each. A Blaze was much different to Under the funeral moon which was much different to TH. Or take Dissection Storm of the Lights Bane. Black Metal but much different to norwegian stuff. Or Emperor Prometheus, Ihsans solo records... or Abigor...DIMMU BORGIR (LOL) or Unlight or take current Satyricon (!) or Immortal.

And Darkly Darkly is much more trve than anything from most of the current work of the classic norwegian BM bands.

TheMetalWarrior316, stop reigniting the same tired argument each time you visit. It's annoying to everyone.

I find it hilarious that Emperor albums such as Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk or Dissection are Black Metal but early Cradle of Filth is not.

Pretention anyone?

Anthem to the Welkins isn't and Dissection merely incorporates a few BM elements.
I find it hilarious that those that think COF are black metal feel they know enough about the subject to comment on it.

This has been beaten to death already, and I'm not going waste any time on it, if you or whatsisname want to call COF black metal, knock yourselves out, just don't be surprised when you get laughed at.

It doesn't mean anyone is calling any of these albums necessarily bad; rather, simply that they lack the standard elements of black metal. Early CoF was good blackened heavy metal. What is so wrong with that?

Their earlier material such as Orgiastic pleasures foul is death metal pure and simple, I hear no black metal influence at all.

Exactly right.
Even up to Principles, I'd say.
They may have put a little tremolo picking in their mid-career material, but that is where the black metal ends with Dani and Co.
I'm afraid.
